ford 6 cyl diesel conversion?

Sorry if this is a repost, I searched....nothing came up.

I heard about a Japanese kit to turn a ford straight 6 into a diesel. Too bad I can't find ANY info about it. (I like diesels)

Anybody heard anything, or got some info?

Thanks in advance!

I am just pulling this outta my ass, but... I wouldn't think that the heads and block could take the 15:1 or higher compression ratio required to make it a diesel. You would also have to spend big bucks on a high pressure diesel injector pump and system. But I am just ASSuming all this...

Found this here http://www.geocities.com/motorcity/s...3545/mark.html a 2.4L turbo diesel in a Mark VII

All 1984 Marks came standard with the 140hp 5.0 with the AOD transmission, but there was a Turbo Diesel I-6 option that was poorly received. The I-6 was mated to a quick-witted 4-spd automatic made by our German friends at ZF. The rear axle had a 3.73:1 gear (standard was 3.08:1) to aid in the the diesel's acceleration. There was a 5-speed manual designed for the car, but I have yet to see one in a production Mark. Rest assured, a 5-speed turbo Mark would be the RAREST of the breed.
Though the motor was made by Steyr, a subsidiary of BMW, it was a diesel and its 115hp was not nearly enough for a Mark VII. At least it was dead reliable. These cars had a dual exhaust setup, but one pipe was for the turbo's wastegate. Diesel cars had a "diesel" badge on the decklid, more hood insulation, and a large rubber strip that isolates the firewall and strut towers from the engine bay. Apparantly these goodies made the crude Fox car feel more like a German car...albeit an oil burning German car. Amazingly, the heavy duty radiator of the Turbo Mark VIIs found its way into the 1993 Mustang Cobra R.
