bent dana 60

I recently aquired a free dana 60 rear from 78 ford.

turns out this axle might not be so free, i go to lookin and the hub is bent or crooked i dont know the name of all the parts, but i think its the backing plate. where the hub goes over the blacking plate is out about 1/8" noticably out of place.

I pulled the alxe shaft and chucked it up in a lathe. and its still straight. so i dont have that exspence.

im going disc brakes so i dont need the hub and junk anyways,

I havent pulled the spindle yet, im wondering if maybe some how its the only thing thats bent.

it doesnt look like the axle tube is bent. but you never know.

you probly have no clue what Im talking about. i know im horrible at exsplaining things

its worth a shot

thankx in advance

Evan

You will need the hub for rear disks, the part that the wheel bearings are housed in...so I assume that you are talking about the brake drum. They are two seperate parts that are held together by the wheel studs.

One possibility is that the backing plate itself is bent. That is not used for a rear disk conversion either.

well im not sure what you need but I have a 78 housing with the spindles still on it if you need it. I all ready hucked all the brakes and hubs and stuff though. I dont think you can bend the hub though so yours should be allright.

the spindles bent, i have few options, huck the trashed houseing and start from scratch with good dana 60 houseing, or get something completly difrent, like dana70 or 14ff.

i was likn the idea of haveing dual dana 60s. the dana 60 is probly the way to go because there cheap and can be found everywhere, but because this axle is no good I should still be able to get another one free,. i say free because I payed 700 for a 14ff, and dana 44 front, I ended up getn just the fron 44 and not the 14 b, so Ive basicaly bought something just never got it till recently, but that 700 included lots of parts form various front axle and new hubs and spindles and other junk i needed so i mayde out alright.

Im gona see what i can find in 60 or 70. theres a few dodge trucks that have goth 60s and 70s in them.

just out of curiostiy what would you want for you 60 houseing and where are you located.

thankx
