Post narrowed bronco

A bunch of people have been asking for pictures of my narrowed EB. I am gonna post em here to make it easier.

This is what it looks like now.
<IMG width=590 height=339 SRC="http://www.pirate4x4.com/ubb/uploads/cowmtn.jpg">

The best thing I ever did is buy a new body to narrow and put on my bronco. After that I stoped worying about body damage on the old body. It made wheeling a lot more fun. This is what it looked like with the old body.
<IMG width=590 height=339 SRC="http://www.pirate4x4.com/ubb/uploads/narrow9.jpg">

The first thing I did to the new tub was bob it 8" I did that in one night (my wife was then my girlfriend and was working nights)

<IMG width=532 height=380 SRC="http://www.pirate4x4.com/ubb/uploads/narrow4.jpg">

After that I cut it in half lengthwise and left it hanging like this

<IMG width=519 height=380 SRC="http://www.pirate4x4.com/ubb/uploads/narrow3.jpg">

I mounted everything up with a 7/8 inch gap and then ground the gap to 1" so everything fit perfect.

I decided to make two cuts outside the body mounts on either side. I cut the wheelwels too since I wanted to keep as much interior room as possible. The wheelwels are pretty thin so to make the weld better I added a strip of metal under the butt joint to back it up.

<IMG width=524 height=380 SRC="http://www.pirate4x4.com/ubb/uploads/NARROW8.JPG">

I cut off the part of the tub that the fenders and grill mount to. It was pretty rusty and I wanted to cut out the inner fenders for cooling anyway. I cut out the wheelwels so hopefully 38.5's would clear. The front tire in this pic is a 35 with no lift and no body mounts so -1" body lift. The cage is 2" .120 wall. I discovered that the most expensive part of rolling a bronco is the windshield frame, so I wanted a cage outside that but I didn't want a big exo that adds weight and width to the body. This is my land rover inspired cage.

This is what the new body looked like almost a year ago before I took of the old body. I was gonna paint it shiny red, but body work sucks so I went OD Green.

Damn you're fast. They should show up now only took 3 tries.

Here is how I did my rockers too. it is 2x3x.120wall welded to 2x2x3/16wall, so that it fits the contour of the bottom of the door sill. I think this comes out cleaner and more solid than the single piece of tube lots of people are using.

man that is looking good. If i were to ever narrow a bronco i think i would kick in the front corners a little too and maybe the rear also. What width axles and tires are you going to be running? Lets see some more finished product pics!

They are stock bronco width axles. I am gonna stick with the 44 since I got about 14 more spare short side shafts, I scored at a wrecking yard that was going out of buisness. The next tires I go with are gonna be 37 x 13 boggers or bigger, but I need to get a trailer first. I need to get some film developed to get some more of the finished pictures.

Are the short side axles on the Dana 44 more prone to breakage? You have a bunch of those suckers. Email me if you're interested in selling an axle.

There are finally some finished pictures on the general board under the topic poser pics of narrowed bronco. Brian, the rockers worked out good I came down on one hard enough to pull the 1/2 inch body mount bolt through the washer and body mount it left a hexagon shaped hole in the washer where the nut went through it!

If you came down on the rocker that hard, you must not have the "super" low gearing yet. Let me know (PM) if I can help get you a deal on a dual case setup.

Those poser pics made me pucker!
