1967 Dana 60 Rear Question

I've got a line on a Dana 60 out of a 1967 Mercury PU. I've been told it is a full float, 3.90 gears with a posi. SRW and truck was 2WD. Are there any problems I should be aware of with a Dana 60 this old? What's the spline count and axle shaft thickness? Are lockers and gears readily available?

It's probably just a run of the mill 60. It's probably got a course spline pinion, but that's no big deal. You'll probably regear it anyway. You'll need a new yoke if you regear though. It probably has the course 16 spline axles, and small bore spindles. I think a lincoln locker is your only option unless you use 30 spline shafts.

1967 merc, should be a small spindle 30 spline, are you sure its full float, i thought mercs were only 1/2 ton and came with the semi float 30 spline 5 or 5.5 D60's, if its LSD, then its most likely a Power Lok, stack the clutches right and you could get pretty good service out of it. Nothing like a Detroit but pretty good service just the same.
But i Vote
