Tired of killing my bed, looking for tube pics. . .

Allright, so I've managed to destroy the bed on my F-150 for the second time. Same spot both times, about the same level of damage. So at this point I'm done searching for beds that will be shredded within 2 or 3 months.

So here's the deal:
I'm going to peel the bed off of my truck and tube it from the back of the cab to the end of the frame. So what I'm looking for are pics of any pick-up (Ford prefered, but will take chevy, dodge, toy, fullsize, mini, anything) that has been tubed in the rear. I'm not really looking to keep bed sides, but I am going to have a bed floor and an internal skin so it can still be used for some hauling.

I went through all 14 pages of "post pics of your rig" and searched, but didn't come up with anything.

Anyway, all pics or links are welcome.

Justin

In this photo you can see some truck boxes. Right now my plans are to run two side rail truck boxes down the sides of the flat bed. It will leave an opening in the middle of the bed for lots os stuff. What do you think about this idea?

man shoope1, your the first person i thought of when i was reading his question, ive sent alot of people a link to your pic thats asked about rear roll cages on FTE, i dig that setup and im looking forward to building my own version of it.......i cant wait to see what the exo looks like, im having a hard time picturing in my head how to build one on mine.......BTW, what size tires are those, they make those rims look almost nonexistent, sweeeeeeet.......

edit: i just seen your sig, 44's, id love to go that big, but i need oklahoma to get the lotto up and going so i can win it first!!!!!!!

Yes I am going to exo cage it.

Here is two pictures of the start of the front clip. I have a couple more days of work on it. This should have been done long time ago, but our club has been very active in starting a new offroad park in Ky.

So I will be mobile by our April Fools run.

And thanks for the kind words about my truck.

And about the yota post. They don't help. They have different lines and are different sizes. Your going to run different tires so the bes thing to look at is what you a ford. If you need any more different shots of my truck I can take them for you.

you're right, for those that lack any inginuity and/or logical thought a pic of a toyota tube bed wont help one bit. but I would hope that the average wrenchin wheeler would be able to look at a pic of a tube bed and say to themself...

"self, I know it's not exactly the same, but I bet I could modify it slightly and that design would work perfectly on my truck."

hell, where would we be if people hadn't thought that by slightly modifying a current design they could use it for their specific application???? not many people would have rockwells under their fords/chevys/toyotas...everyone would have their original motor/trans/t-case....etc etc etc.

so I say search some more. look for ford/toyota/chevy/jeep/suzuki/whatever the heck you can find and compile as many designs as you can. find what you like/don't like about each one and see what you can do to combine them all together into 1 tube bed that fits your exact needs.

Yeah I understand that.

I got my idea from a chevy/ ford tube bed.
REally the best way is to just tear your bed off get some tube and start bending. Get your basic hoop behind the cab coming off of your rockers then go from there.

The only glitch in my design is for a spair. But a 44" tire would be hard to make room for.

p.s. if you are wondering if my truck is not level. it isn't
I just got my sky's flip kit today for the rear. Man, I'm impressed with with their product.

I seen a truck in town witha similar design (didnt even look half as good as yours) he had a 42" spare mounted on the rails that angle down from the back of his cab to the rear of the truck. Your cage looks sweet man, I jus put a new box on my Ford, then got another one given to me so I should be set for a year or two. But after that your cage has given me some good ideas.

Thanks. I also like the idea of using the skins off of a bed on thre rear tube. I didn't desing mine that way. I still have to put something on my bars to deflect mud. I had it in a mud bog last year and thought I was going to break my rear window.
