F350/Ranger

SO here's what I want to do......

I want to buy a 86-91 F350 witha 460/auto trans and a manual T-Case and a Kingpin Dana 60 front and a Sterling 10.25 rear. I want to take this truck and put a 6 inch suspension lift on it along with a shackle reversal on the front and a shackle flip on the rear. I want to remove the stock lift blocks and just get 6 inch lifted springs for it. This would yield around 9 inches of lift total.......

Then I would take this truck and take the front clip, cab and box off of it and replace it with the Ranger stuff I have right now and make custom cab mounts and incorporate some sort of sturdy lift into those as well......This would be to cram 44s under it.

You guys think this would work? Would wiring everything back in be a nightmare? Should I put a carb 460 in it instead or try to run it with the fuel injection system that's on these engines?

Any and all info. would be appreciated...

Zach

I think you don't need nearly that much lift.

I think the 460 will be a very tight fit under the Ranger hood if it's to have any sort of stockish appearance.... especially where the gooseneck intake is involved.

id say it would take some work but i bet with some hacking in the engine bay and a small body lift you could clear it.

take out everything in the engine bay of the ranger you can maybe relocate the radiator to the bed to get some room. i think with out the radiator and fan you would be alot closer to making it fit.

This has come up before.......some people have done it successfully.

I would personally not consider this successful

That's on a '78 Bronco frame.

Body swap or drivetrain swap.......that's always the question. I think you're ahead to swap the drivetrain and leave the Ranger body on the Ranger frame.

According to this the 460 swap is possible

Why even bother asking the question? I know you wont do it just like you dont do any of the stupid shit you ask about on TRS. In fact, why dont you go back there & express your deepest concern for the drunken wife beater & maybe even hold his balls while you wipe his ass.

Oh ya.. redneck!

I won't do it? OK, so maybe I won't but who's to say I can't ask questions? Guy's gotta learn shit somehow......It's not like I really have the time or money to devote to this ridiculously expensive hobby at this point in my life anyways. Some people have to work, go to a firefighting academy, an EMT class, and still go to school for my Bachelors in building construction management. So I think you should shut the fuck up right there about me not doin anything that I say I will. I'm sure if I gave all that up and worked full time after high school like a dumbass redneck, then yeah, I prolly would have as nice a rig as some people's on here. But I feel like having fun and going to school and getting some sort of an education so I can support myself and my girlfriend.

I just don't understand your attitude as of recently anymore....Did you have some big ass fallout at TRS or sumthin? Suddenly you seem so hostile to a group that you were a big part of for such a long time and that helped you out for so long. For a guy that tries to act like you don't know or care about what's said on TRS anymore, you sure do know alot about whats bein discussed over there right now.

Yeah, I have asked questions about shit and it's pretty much me just trying to figure stuff out.....if that bothers you; fuck off because I refuse to be labeled a redneck. You just make yourself look like that much more of a dumbass when you call me a redneck.....seeins how I'm from Michigan and am about as far away from being a racist overopinionated underinformed asshole such as yourself. Yur just a wana be tough guy that gets pissed off over stupid shit.

I just like to get a rise outta ya

EDIT: Oh ya, "Redshred" on TRS is a dick just like Jim & we had some pretty big issues [he's in AZ as well] & he kicked me off like 9 times. The only reason Im back right now is to keep coverage of Jims wrong doings.

I'm not sayin I don't like rednecks, its just that from where I'm from, they have a real negative connotation tied into them, and that's just not what I am. It's good to hear that people on here make upwards of 60k a year with no higher education, but it's also a comfort knowing that if I land a job with the right fire department or construction business when schools done for me, I can make around 60k starting out. Not to say I'm better than anyone, that's just my reasoning for not dropping out yet. And also where I come from, there arn't many other job options if I drop out of school. I'll have to admit though, rednecks are some of the most genuine people to have on your friends list and also are usually great wheelers, have some very interesting rigs, and can party like there's no tommorrow.

Anyways, If I do get the F350, I think I'll prolly just end up going with a shackle reversal in the front, a shackle flip in the rear using Sky's flip kit and maybe a small body lift.....(definitley not a foot of body lift)......or some springs with just a little bit of lift to them. Tires would be 39.5 boggers...I want the truck's suspension setup to resemble the yellow Tonka II F350 in Peterson's from a couple years ago. This summer I am going to be working alot more so hopefully by the end of summer I'll have enough to pick up a used F350 and get the stuff done that I want to do to it.......It prolly won't happen tho with my habit of making Canadian bar runs across the river where the drinking age is 19........

oh by they way, I gave up on the idea of swapping the body over.....I kind of like the manueverability of the lil ranger more than i think i would if i swapped it over.....

he could have lowered the body some more. the big difference between the frame is that the front comes up more on a BII/ranger frame. the FS is more flat. if you keep it as low as possible you still end up with a funny looking front. I did the body swap.....86 BII to a 79 Bronco Frame. I still feel like I need to lower my body a few inches though. I am just trying to get it running so I can go play in June then I will mess with it. don't know about the 460 but the 351M fits in there pretty good. little bangin and cutting but no big deal. the frame is deffinatly stronger on the FS.

There's nothing wrong with getting a formal education, but it's not for everyone. All I'm saying is just don't be a dick about it... you will not win any people over this way in life, especially when you get a "real job". Not everyone gets the same opportunities and a education doesn't mean everything. I've worked with plenty of college grads who didn't know their ass from a hole in the ground when they started "working". In time you will learn there are many people without an education who are just as intelligent.

back to your question, most of these fags read past the part where you wanted to put the ranger body on the f350 frame... Hello mcfly... DUH there won't be any frame fitment issues you fawking dumb asses! the 460 is already in a "frame" what college did you go to?

Personally, I would can the 460 idea and just put the 1ton shit under the ranger. Have you seen what a 4.0 can do to a d60 and d70??? Here, let me show you

what gears and tire size are you running?
the 4.0L is a stout motor. I had swapped one into my 86 before I decided to go the rought I did. the bigest deal for me was getting a better tranny and transfer case out of it NP435/205. I have been gathering parts for a 5.0L HO EFI swap as soon as the 351M blows.
