79 D44 busted weld
I've got a Dana 44 out of a 79 Bronco but I recently found a broken weld where the tube is in the housing, so the tube wobbles. Do you think I could just weld up the tube and not worry about it? Or do you think I should retube it? What do you think the chances are that the press fit is damaged beyond repair? What about alignment? How could I align the tubes?
Sorry for all the questions but I got this entire axle for practically nothing and now I think it may be a waste of time, how bout you? Also I am thinking about cutting it and narrowing it for my Ranger so it will be going on a lightweight vehicle, and I wont be running anything bigger than 35's. Thanks for the help.

the tubes are a press/interfeirance fit first and for most, then welded in place. the fact that you can woble it by hand means that it was free for a reason, it is not safe by any means. sounds like the previous owner liked to jump things while others hold his beer!!
gut it and get a new one, it not worth your life or the money it would cost to get it redone right.
