whatever i can get my hands on

anywhere from 35 to 38's.....i dont care.

im going to cut the rear frame out and shorten it...so crossmembers and whatnot are already going to be moved around. i couldnt see why it would be hard to make a coil bucket in the frame... since its a long bed, and now im going to make it a short(er) bed, the frame is going to be hacked regardless. if i weld a peice of 6 inch pipe where the frame is going back together for a coil bucket, it should fix the dillemma (sp) of inboarding or outboarding the coils. if i get some EB radius arms, they have the coil bucket on top of them, so under the frame w/ the stock coils from the front should work groovy. im also prolly gonna make the upper coil buckets adjustable, say if i have a ton of crap in the back, towing, or going to diffrent coils.
like i said, im going to play it by ear, and see what comes out of the whole situation. would using a set of degreed bushings, say turned upside down would pivot the rear radius arms up, so they wont become rock hangers? or i could just weld the "c"'s on the axle at a slight angle to make the arms go slightly up in the front.

the problem with three or 4 linking the rear, is it will throw me out of budget.
hiems and tubing w/ brackets will cost a ton, compared to using stock shit.

so radius arms w/ a traction bar? (and beefy panhard) would that be a alternative?

also with the front, im assuming im going to have to extend the radius arm bracket from the frame downwards in order to keep it more level....
same thing with the draglink going to the tierod....im going to have to lengthen it?

anyone do a chevy flat top dana 44 knuckle on the passenger side only to make it high steer? ream out the front tie rod holes and flip the front tierod up?

i was thinking this too....it wouldnt be as expensive as a 4 link or 3 link, but would get'r'dun too

hey i need an exploded view of the front axle. i need the axle seal that mounts into the housing itself, where the axle shaft rides against. i cant find it anywhere. vatozone, hi-lo, or dealership are with WTF im looking for. i have a seal that goes on the stubshaft as a temporary seal, but need the right one.

well, sorry i forgot the camera today.

heres other things i bought today

ball joints upper and lower 67.00
brake lines for the rear axle 7.00
front wheel seals 20.00
2548.5 remaining

now the geo tracker rotors are solid rotors, not vented. i bought them because i saw someone said they used them ....but they dont fit. so im assuming im going to be using something else? like a cj7 rotor?

i need a rotor that will fit on the back 9 inch and be a vented rotor.....any ideas?

the work i got done today was replaced upper and lower ball joints, repack wheel bearings, replace steering u joints, replaced front brake lines left and right w/ hardlines, changed diff fluid, reseal diff cover, replaced breather line for front diff, repaired locking hubs ( i need a locking hub bolt, the little allan bolt if anyone has one), inspected brake pads and rotors, replaced wheel stud and nut, removed bent offending steering dampener and pressure washed the CRAP out of everything in attempt to clean it up some.

i need that damn inner axle seal. im not looking forward to taking it apart again, but i need the seal....

I believe that there are some slight differences that might hang you up. If I remember correctly, your current spindle uses a 5 bolt pattern, while the chevy spindles use a 6 bolt pattern. There might be a way that you can use chev knuckle, and spindle, with your current ford hub and rotor, but I think that the spindles are different lengths... hmmm I think that I'd give a shout to Parts Mike. He'd be able to suggest some solutions for this.

Good luck with the project.

come on now....dont be a hater now.... i think it can be done to have a wheelable truck that is dependable for 3k. is the 400 a 351 modified? i keep running into that when i see this truck...ill have to get the block numbers off of it and see actually what engine i have in the truck.

actually, i was looking on summit and the tire prices are pretty damn good for super swampers....they only charge 20 bucks to ship them. so i could get 4 38.5x11x15 boggers shipped for 900 bucks or so....it really isnt that bad. although those are going on the cruiser, i still need tires for this truck (BUZZ ARE YOU READING THIS? )

im far from a hater, i love seeing people building up these old fords and restoring them. but yes a 351M is a 400. $900 for super swampers, you can get a set of 44" boggers for $500 and some change. but i really dont think youll be able to keep in the 3k limit. now get us photos i wanna see what your starting with and the end result. good luck

look in the classifieds. Your in a big city and can find something reasonably close to get a set used. I got my set of 33 BFG MT's with about 50-70% tread for $75! Deals can be had. I will keep my eyes peeled for ya.

Just remembered there is a guy on ih8mud who has a set of 37 krawlers for $400. they are 17" though.

i would just build your own extensions from like 1.5 or 2 inch solid barstock, and drill or drill and tap what threads you need, especially if you want to use male heims, cause the fags at bent and twisted dont know what the hell they are doing, they may tell you they do over the phone but when you get their product in a failry untimely matter, and it is wrong, they jsut simply say, you dont know what you are talking about to bad.

Did you ever think of just going to the junkyard and pulling used springs?? I bet a couple of guys on here would even hook you up. It doesn't sound like you really need a 4-link or even a radius arm setup on the back of that truck anyway. If you're even considering running 44s on those axles...you may want to save some cash for trail spares. Kind of having a hard time focusing on one project aren't you?? It looks like the cruiser could be done in a week or two.
