I just can't....figger it out!

So, the explorer still runs like crap. Im going to pull the cats this weekend if I can find some time. I was going to pull the fuel filter last weekend but couldn't figure out how to detach the lines from the filter. I cant figure out why I have no power

Could this be anymore cryptic? What year, and engine? Well at least you listed a make and model. If it is a 97 or later Exploder with an OHC 4.0 it sounds like it has slipped a tooth on the timing chain to one of the cams. Is it easy to fix? No. It's cheaper to buy a running take-out engine.

You need special tools to remove the fuel lines. They look like little plastic donuts. You can get em at any auto parts store for uner $10. They clip on over the fuel line then you slide that up into the spring connector and they pop right off.

My special $10.00 took never freaking worked. My fuel line chewed up my cheap plastic tool and made it useless for any future applications. I should have gotten the $3.00 hammer first. LOL!!!

don't buy the cheapie tool, buy a set from MAC or snap on that are about the size of a stubby wrench instead of the POS ones you are buying. and don't buy the ones form autozone, as i broke that POS using it once. even the 20 dollar one from sears is better than the autozone one

BTW have you checked for codes, just becuase the light isn't on doesn't mean one didn't throw......

No power as in rich running or lean......change the o2's lately? how about the plugs/wires. why not start with a tune up or more info

I just use a small flat-blade screwdriver to pop the fuel filter clips off...
The new filter will come with new clips too, should you break the prongs off.

those are different, these are round and have a spring inside of the around the perimeter of the line, you have to use a tool or you might bust the spring. plus this is made into the hard line it is a replaceable type deal like those palstic ones.

I am assuming you have SD EFI, tried cleanign the throttle body and the IAC sensor, it sits on the throttle body. Are all the vaccum lines connected

I cleaned the MAF, whats the IAC? I'll have to try cleaning the throttle body. Im pretty sure all the vaccum lines are connected, anyone know how many there should be?

They're reffering to the disconnects on the fuel lines located up by the drivers side of the firewall.....
