i have a 1990 f250 it has a 300 6 ...it key dont work id like to put a push start swich and take the key out....not use it any more...just a push swich..is that all need... and how do i do it? or how do i take it out and put a new one in?

You need two switches - one toggle switch to turn the power on (just like your key's on position) , and a push button switch to activate the starter. make sure that the push button switch is one that activates only while depressed, not an on/off button like a flashlight has.

I don't have a wiring diagram for that rig, but you should get one and it will tell you which wires need to be connected to the toggle switch to turn the power on, and which ones to connect to the push button switch.

i did it without a diagram. just take apart the slider switch on top of the column behind the gauge cluster and see which contacts get depressed in the various positions of the sliders. wire switches accordingly. took me 3-4 hours total.

or you could just go buy an electical side of the ignition switch
