8.8 disk brakes?

Has anyone ever put disk brakes on an 8.8? Was thinking of doing it on my ranger. What are you guys using for adjustable perportioning valves and would I need a c-clip eliminator kit? Can it not be done?

I've got modified caliper brackets just for this. $60 Cdn + shipping

all you would need to get, is the rest of brake parts, like calipers/rotors/park brake shoes and assorted other junk.

I used a porportioning valve for my setup.

Im a dumb ass and just firgured out I could leave the c-clips right the fuck alone
So you didnt change the perportioning valve? How well does it stop? My rear shoes are GONE but this is now starting to look like a kiddy shit mod.

Pretty much Im going to run the same disk/calipers that I do up front. All I have to do is make caliper brackets(I have more time than money) and get some rubber hoses and shit.

It's too fucking cold now though. I need it to warm up so I can do some work!!

Mine brakes fine. It locks them up on the street when needed. My biggest problem and still is, is getting the ebrake to work. Mine is probably on 20%. Some people did change the proportioning valve and some didn't. If you figure out a good way to get the ebrake to work 100% please post up. If you need a link to write up, let me know.

I kept the same master, but installed a Wildwood vavle for ease of tuning. It's a night and day difference in stopping power. Well worth it.

I had the park system working but I later ditched the whole works and installed a line lock.

Here is how I did the cables.

As for using front rotors and calipers................good luck with that. The brackets I have make this a bolt on for ranger 8.8 axles. The backing plate mounting pattern is different between the explorer and the ranger 8.8's. So just swaping is a no go with out some mods.

I dont care if I have to fab some. It should be worth it in the end.

Your kit is all bolt on? What calipers/rotors do you use? For $60 bucks it might be worth it to just have it all bolt up.

All explorer parts. They are explorer caliper brackets that have been modified to bolt to a 28 spline Ranger axle.

I'll trudge through the 5 foot drifts to get them out of the cab of the parts truck. I'll send you a couple of pictures of the caliper brackets this weekend. I need to dig some other junk out of the truck anyway so it's no big deal.
