GM saginaw pump in yer ferd

so my cheap truck is getting some steering action revamped.

the box is being rebuilt from WTOR, and getting ported for hydro assist. all in anticipation of the front spool, and soon to be mud drags that are going on up here.

anywhoo, i need to put a GM Canned Ham p/s box on my ferd. anyone got some pics of brackets? i still need to buy the pump so i can get to it, but it never hurts to ask

currently i have the p/s pump that looks like a cherry bomb, with the little steel dipstick.

ford used the same pump on most stuff so the cardone will fit almost anywhere the ford pump fits

77 ltd with a 400 and hydro boost. I had to move the bracket and modify it some so it would fit with the factory AC brackets which is my york compressor now.

Find a Van with your engine, scam it's pump... Ford always has, and still does run Siagnaws on the vans.
Heck, even if it's not the same engine, the bracket bolted to the pump will probably bolt to your brackets.

I have the Saginaw unit on mine...Lincoln's w/ Hydroboost used the Saginaw pump and the A6 AC unit instead of the weak Ford PS pump and the York AC unit.

The reason that I have the A6 unit for OBA is because I wasn't willing to get rid of the Saginaw pump. At the time, I did not know of a way to have both the York AC unit for OBA and the Saginaw pump....and being able to steer was more important than airing up tires.

BTW, the A6 OBA setup works great...zero complaints, and it is often used to air up 12 tires in a row at the end of a ride....mine and a couple moochers.

I got my pump at Napa pat # 20-6244, I guess the same one as cardone. It was like $120. I bolts to the stock ford bracket. Mine is on a 351w and a buddy has it on his 302. It will move my 38.5's with the ARB on. Forgot to add that the price included the core charge. Also if going to a full size steering box the lines will match, you do not need the adapter.

It looks like it's an off-the-shelf unit from O-Reilly's.

Give them your old pump for a core, and save $45

x2. I just did this, scored the bracket and sag pump for $28 from the pull-a-part. The rebuild kit for the sag pump was only another $16 from Advance Auto, and my existing power steering hose fit the sag pump just fine.
