Hi All
I recently was given 2 aftermarket aluminum intake manifolds for the 351M\400 engines. One is and Offenhauser 360deg dual port and the other is an Edelbrock Performer.
My question is this. All I have read on the Offenhauser says it is a very good lowend\towing manifold. This is what I am looking for on the 79 F-250 I am building up. It will be my tow rig for the crawler.
I have some experience with the Edelbrock on a SBC but not on the 351M that is in the F-250.
Anyone have any experience with either one on the 351 motor? I was leaning towards the Edelbrock, but with what I am reading about the Offenhauser it looks like it might be a better choice.
Also what carb would you guys recomend? The 351 has an RV cam but thats about it. Future plans include ignition, cold air, exhaust and the intake.

If it is a tow rig use a holly 2bbl. You will not get any better low to mid power out of any other carb.

Being that they are both 4BBL manifolds I would run a 600 or 625 cfm. carb and I would stay away from holleys, They work good for power but suck on MPG. I would probably use and edelbrock or carter AFB, Do you have a carb? I have 3 if you need one. a holley 600 and edelbrock 600 and a carter comp. afb 625 all manual chokes

i have the eldelbrock on my truck with a worked over holley truck avenger 670 on my stroked (409) 351M. i cant say how impressed i am with the carb. it makes all the difference in the world. im not lieing that it has never stalled OR sputtered on me from inclination or angle yet.

if you want a carb rebuilt hook up, im yer man, you wont be dissapointed

Compare the size of the runners, the smaller ones will have more low end balls, it's a velocity thing.

THere was a manifold test done somewhere on the net, I think they were pretty much identical to about 3500, and then the performer was better. There was no fuel economy stuff.

That said if you go with the offy pm me a price on the performer
