i am swapping in a 351w from a 1991 e-350 to my 1991 f-150 that came with a 302. the 351w balancer is shot and in my search for a replacement i have found some that list as a 302/351 balancer. i was always under the impression that the balancers were not interchangeable. could i just scavenge the one off of my 302? while im here, can i also ditch all the smog bullshit? i.e. pump hoses and whatnot........
Both of those engines are internally balanced, The damper will interchange. If you don't have emissions testing in your state you can ditch the smog, This area is not my strong suit. Since it's computer controlled you may want to try and find a better info source, Such as www.ford-truck.com or www.fullsizebronco.com
Uh....... last time I checked the 5.0 is 50oz imbalance and the 5.8 is 28oz imbalance, and both are externally balanced. The damper will physically fit, but there is going to be a bit of a vibration.
'70-'80 5.0 and all 5.8 are 28.2oz imbalance
'81-'00 5.0 are 50oz imbalance
You must also match the flywheel/flexplate as well.
im scared of you canadians, youre so tough:shaking: if all the answers were on google we wouldnt need this site dummy........
