I picked up a D60ff and HPD44 out of a late 70s F250 a few weekends ago. Both 8 lug, both leaf sprung. I noticed tho, that the studs arent the same size front to rear. Rear studs are 7/16(?) and fronts are smaller. Is this normal? Any way to change the studs on the front to match the rear? I know Im being a bit anal, but it makes things so much easier when they match.
Should be same size if axles from same donor. Diassemble front hub/rotor, knock out old studs(if different), take sample to parts guy, get correct studs, re-install.:smokin:
Yea, kinda OCD, mostly just curious. Would that truck have come with a 60 from the factory and someone swapped it? It was an extended cab 250. I figured I could just swap out the studs, was just wondering why someone would go through the trouble of swapping those axles out. Ive got to dissassemble anyways to see what needs repaired so Ill just swap them out then.
