Im looking at a 68 bronco. It has the 289 with stock dana 30 and small bearing 9" rear. Body is solid other than a couple small spots on the floors. The body does have a lot of small dents. (Im gonna restore it not wheel it) The 289 runs strong and is said to have only 10k on it. It needs exhaust, paint, transfercase rebuild cuz it slips out of gear, tires, and a battery.
He wants 3500. I offered him 2500 and he said he would not take less than 3k.
What do you guys think?? It has not had any mods to it at all, totally stock.
well like a lot of older vehicle purchases its about how much it worth to you. That does not sound to high for that year bronco i would bet it is a good deal if the title is clean and their is no back reg, it sounds like a good platfrom.
Any pic of it and maybe we could give you better idea?
Thanks guys, Im thinkin that I will get it. Im not hot on the Dana 30 or the fact that it doesnt have power steering or disc brakes but I guess those are mods I will have to do.
A complete, nearly rust free, pretty much straight EB not a steal at 3k?
C'mon, dude, your in Oregon. You can't find a rusted out heap of an EB out here for less than that. And I know its like that for the rest of the country except for the odd screaming deal.
A agree, this Bronco is a good price at $3500. That same EB would sell for twice the price in AZ. Mechanically sound with good paint and the price would jump up to five times the original purchase price.
I'd buy it for 3 grand without thinking twice, that's close to what I paid for my 74 14 years ago. Mine did have power steering and a dana 44 but its not like you can't upgrade. If you don't plan on wheeling it at all you could just keep the 30 and add discs.

well I picked her up for 3k. He had a fiberglass hood for it too but he wanted 400 so I left that behind. It slipped out of gear about 5 times on the way home and needs some carbeuration adjustments but Im happy.
I was looking at disc brake kits and they arent cheap neither is the power brake kit. So I think Ill just put in a Dana 44 with discs already. I can pick that up for a 100 bucks and Im unsure of the route Ill take on the power brake setup.
Power steering kits arent cheap either but Im sure I can make something work well without the overpriced kit.
First comes a lot of metal straightening:smokin:
Make your own brake kit, would definetely be cheaper. Go to a junkyard and take a look at the booster and mc on different vehicles and take measurments for space. If there is room i would look into the 3/4ton stuff.
Once in awhile you find a great deal. I bought my 66' for 2k. Then found another EB. A running rusty 74' for 500 dollars. I took all the good parts off the 74' and they are all now on the 66'.
Looking back I wished I made the 74' into just a wheeling vehicle.
I got my 74 bronco 302 w/ D44 and NO powersteering for 3K...hope that helps
the body is a lot worse off than it looks in the pics
