i started out with an 83 ranger that i got for $500
i pulled the fullwidth 9" and hp44 from my 78 f-150 and got 6.5" coils for the front and 63" chev springs for the rear. as of now the lift is all done it just needs tires, brakes and the motor swap done.
also my buddy has an 89 fuel injected 302 with a 4x4 5 speed tranny and all of the wiring that im going to pick up this week. the im going to be swapping it in with my 205 as soon as i blow my pos 2.8
i will try to get more pics of how it sits now it still needs another inch or 2 in the back so i think im going to order a set of add a leaves
yea ive put some pretty bad abuse on this motor already while i was collecting parts and pulling axles. i put it through a water hole at the river.. didnt think it wa too deep at first until it came up over my hood.. so i just stomped on it :grinpimp: and after i got through it the motor was running like shit and i thought i killed it. but after sitting for about 2 minutes it started right back up and ran perfect for the next 2,000 miles until i pulled the axles.
:shaking:
also do they have the wierd bastard size u-joints to make my driveshafts work for it. (they will be temporary for a few months until i do my motor/tranny/t-case swap.)
everyone ive done ive used the f150 brake lines. all the fittings are the same for the d28 and the d44. or you can just make one line come off the master and set it up like the f150 had. with the brake lines on the axle and only one coming from the frame.
thanks for all the help. i think im just going to use those bastard conversion u-joints. because there is no point in spending a buttload of $ on driveshafts that i will have to get rid of in a month or 2 when i do the motor swap
well i got down to start on my gear swap. and i didnt know that you are supposed to have a special spreader to pull the front carrier out of the d44. i have everything else out of it. and somebody said i needed a spreader for it. what should i do about it? how outrageously priced are they?
im really itching to wheel this damn thing and see how it does.
you can get it out with a prybar, and put it back in with a dead blow hammer. I don't think that it is the "right" way, but it is how I have always done it w/o any problems.
well i havent posted in a little while. but i got the front end put back together. i still need to hook my drivelines up with some bastard u-joints and move my rear axle forward.
thanks i was just wondering about it since i have one sitting in my garage next to my ranger. and to try to save a little money instead of buying those bastard $40 ujoints. it will just go in with the 302 then.
i am going to be picking up my new engine tranny and t-case today. its an 89 efi 302 with a 4 speed and a 205. with everything to hook it up.
i got a pretty good deal on it all $150
i finally got my motor its in the garage waiting to go in now. and everything is pretty damn clean for being from an older truck.
