As the title says,96 regular cab 350 w/E4OD 460 4x4 4 inch superlift that was on it when i bought it and as far as i can tell the driveshafts are stock. it has wnat seems to be a ujoint vibration between 50-65 mph when you let of the throttle or "unload" it. all the ujoints feel tight and i have changed both of them in the rear dshaft and the one in the rear at the tcase twice. i`ve also changed the companion flange as the ujoint would almost come out with just thumb pressure. i`ve heard that these style trucks have driveline issues. can anyone possibly lead me in the right direction? thanx ahead of time for any help you could offer!
first, has the truck always vibrated, or is it new? make sure the front driveline is not spinning at speed ( some factory auto hubs are known for this ). Next can you move the slip yoke in the t case up and down ? If it is ok then check the joint angles and make sure they are the same. if not you may have to install some shims. my 94 f150 after the lift ( previous owner installed ) will vibrate at 55-60. the lift blocks were angled like it was to be used with a CV shaft ( rear joint in line with the pinion ). but if you rotated it flat the drive shaft was to short and would pull the slip yoke out to far and vibrate worse -

it`s always vibrated since the day i bought it Jan. 06`. There is no slipyoke at the t-case it`s fixed with a round "plate" (similar to the flange on a full floater axle shaft)that has 4 nonthreaded holes and the yoke on the d-shaft is also flat where they mate together then the 4 bolts go through the t-case flange and thread into the d-shaft yoke which is actually called a companion flange i could be wrong on the direction in which they thread but either way it`s the same concept. thanx for your input 250!
I had a '94 f-350 like this with stock suspension. I drove it for about 6 months with my front hubs not unlocking, didn't know this. It woreout the cv on the front drive shaft and created a similar vib. Crawl under and check the front cv for slack. May not be the problem at all, but worth checking.
thanx but there is a noticable difference between locked and unlocked hubs when driving at road speeds. and I also forgot to mention it has stock manual lockouts
sorry - my 95 250 has a slip yoke - put an angle finder on the joints and check them - the angle on a 350 shouldnt change much from cruz to decell ( mine doesnt move at all with the factory 3 " blocks ) pics please
the rear blocks are home made of some real beefy material.he made them so he could run 1 set of blocks insted of stacking them. and also the guy i bought it from seemed to put alot of pride into his work as i checked out a few other rigs he had built when i was at his house. i don`t know if it means much but it will roll over 36x14.50 truxus on pavement with zero wheel hop
