1977.5 F250

I'm gonna be picking up a 1977.5 f250 here in a few weeks and there's a few things i'd like to know before I go check it out. Was 77.5 the first year of the hp 44 or was it still lp until 78? Also were 205's available in these?

It's pretty well optioned, air (doesn't work but everything is there), dual tanks etc, etc but was a hunting truck so it was ran hard, but it's complete and only 400 bucks running.

I've got a small block bolt pattern c6 and a 351windsor I plan on putting in it. Overall goal is to make it a dd, that's why i'm going 351 and not big block and cuz I already have the 351.

being a 77.5 it should have a HP D44 front. yes, it probably has an NP205.

I'm sorry your an idiot, but its no reason to go around spouting wrong info..
77.5-79 will have a HP44, or a HP 60
73-77, will also not always have a LP 44, they also came with LP 60's
And while there is talk of divorced ford 203's, they will almost ALWAYS have a divorced 205 in those years, and a divorced dana 24 in earlier trucks.

Concider this your e-btich slap down,
let me guess your 77.5 with the low pinion 44, and divorced 203, also had a 390 in it from the factory? and its parked next to your 78' F-350 4x4 with a factory 460, right?

slapdown?

ah... another one of these threads. its usually better to listen to the 4 guys that agree, instead of the one who is defending himself...

no. I'm ford through and through. My brother made this account when he had his chevy. He don't have it no more and doesn't even have a truck, so I use it.

But yup I was talking about it. And you never denied the fact that I was right.

Besides, look at the OP. 1971K5. That says Chevy to me.

All 77s highboy and lowboys had I6, 351m, or a 400. Ford did not offer a 360 at all in 77.

You guys know this is really piss poor. If you cant agree on info then just sit back and let someone else speak. And the name calling thing is just childish!
Now as for topic at hand, 77.5 and up are high pinion, and YES some came with D60s, but not that many. It will most likely be a 205, but i think a 203 may have still been an option, not 100 percent sure on that one.
As far as the 73-early 77(before 4/77) trucks("highboys") I have never seen one with a low pinion 60, not to say they werent out there, but i have owned close to 200 ford trucks, and i aint had one yet! Yes you could get divorced 203s, most likely with a 360 and a C6 auto. I dont know how people get facts so fucked up on those trucks.
Later
Dan

This is way better than the shit they hand out on the toy forum.

If you're so worried about it, run the vin number so you know what the truck came equiped with. Then you know for sure, instead of having to listen to some jackass who doesn't know WTF he's talking about, and 6 other guys e-slapping the f*ck out of him.

Although, It IS entertaining to read.

77 and prior had divorced T-case, 77.5 the T-case was married. The T-case will have a tag on it telling you what case it has.

If you really think that going with a 351W is going to get you better gas mileage you have been mislead. I would not advise making this truck a DD, don't expect to get more than about 8 MPG with it.

Ranger, you're wayyy too nice for this board And, as usual, dead right. The only Ford I have that gets better than 8 mpg is 'Bubba Hyde', and that's 'cuz it's only a rolling frame...

Most the early 70's Fords I have parted out were divorced 203's including the last 77.5 (earlier 77.5). FWIW

I never said gas mileage was a concern, I don't drive far to work and for real long hauls I have an 04 Mazda pickup but i'd like to get the f250 reliable so it can be driven daily. I'm putting the windsor in cuz I want to and I have it, that's it.
