D44 Locker ???s

Im looking at a used Detroit Soft Locker for my front axle... anyway, i know that the TTB has a C clip in one axle shaft... not the other...

so the question is, will the soft locker work on the TTB? or does the C-clip screw it all over? either way, ill get it for the SAS, but im just wondering if i can run it in the TTB until I do the swap.

Anyone?

Just do what every other mother fucker does and eliminate the clip by putting a spring on the center slip yolk...TA DA

just read over a few hundered pages of crap - so -
any hp44 locker will fit in the case. there are 2 versions of the ttb 44 case. there is an early style, that uses 2 bolts that hold a plate / retainer on the axle shaft. locker / ls will fit these without mods.
the newer style has a c clip in the case, there are no current locker / ls ( arb and ezlocker are not very clear on this ) that can use the c clip in the factory location. so a common mod is to install a spring in the slip tube in the center u joint to keep the shaft engauged. or a spring on the outside - i have a pic -

I've used the spring in the passengers side axle shaft slip joint trick many times, locker or not, works just fine. It makes changing a broken passengers side axle on the trail much easier. Just be sure that the spring is not to tight & does not limit the axles slip joint travel, the axle slip joint slides in when the suspension is unloaded & could bind up with to long of a spring.
