questions about the computer in a 1987 5.0

i have an 1987 town car i am pulling the 5.0 out of for my truck, it had an auto tranny in it but its bad so i was wondering if i was to swap the tranny would the computer mess up because the plugs aren't plugged in idk if the computer is new enough to look for that sort of thing, also if i pull the smog stuff of such as the pump are there sensors that will not be plugged in that will make the motor not run right? my truck is a green sticker truck so i am not worried about smog i was just curious if these things will make it not run right.

on an 87 it wont matter

i think in 87 the trans is control by the detent cable and not the computer.

'87 controled the engine only. Trans was controled by an adjustable throttle valve cable.

you can remove the TAB/TAD & CANP controls, the EGR solenoid will need a resistor to fool the computer, they're cheap on eBay.

any trans will work fine, you'll need to bypass the NSS if you use the EEC starter solenoid circuit, also you may want to swap in a computer from a manual 5.0 to avoid stalling if you dont use an auto w/VSS behind the 5.0.

I have a 90 speed density crown victoria 5.0L motor in my buggy. It originally had an auto.

I'm running a 4spd T19 behind it and it runs great. The VSS is ziptied up out of the way and is not connected to anything.

I pulled off the smog pump, EGR, TAB, TAD, CANP but left the EGR valve position sensor on.

It runs great. Just finished the swap a couple weeks ago took it to the badlands for the shakedown run and came back from a week in harlan, ky a couple days ago. No problems.

i ended up finding a propane setup for my chevy 350 i currently have in my toyota for a good price so the 5.0 is sittin in our shop waiting for another project to go in, probably a hot rod for my dad if he will ever get away from damn carbs. he is too old school like that
