pre 77.5 hydro ram for tapped hyrdo assist?
I tried to search for this but it's not easy..
Anyway, I just so happen to have a 76 crew cab with the old hydro assist steering and was wondering if anyone knows if this can be used with a newer (79) tapped box for hydro assist? What do people usually run for the rams? |

im not sure if it would be powerful enough, as it wasnt so great in its stock power assist form. most people run regular ass tie rod end hydraulic cylinders. either 6'' - 8'' of stroke and 1.5'' - 2.0'' bore depending on the setup.
bigger the bore, the slower steering response and it can get a little hairy on the street, i know from experience, there is a dented up chevy that could tell you.
