5.0 and ZF?

I want a 5 speed behind a 5.0, was thinking the t5 is too weak, and was wondering if the ZF was ever offered behind this motor?

IT was offered behind the 351W in the F250's. But the 351w and 302 both have the same bolt pattern so is should be a direct swap... I think they came in the 96 and up F250's.

My 91 Ford Diesel has the ZF in it. I was thinking about swapping in the ZF with the BW t-case when I do a 5.0 swap.

Flatty, how are you going to adapt the tall bellhousing to a small block? Got a secret I don't know about?

BTW -- Most times, the diesels will have a 4.14ish first gear instead of the 5.71 1st the gas motors got.

And strangely, the 300 sometimes can be found with a ZF trans. But you're right -- they're usually behind 88-97 351 motors.

Are you sure thats a ZF and not the Mazda built lump of poo? I had an 89 F150 2WD and it was the Mazda built.

Mazda M5OD-R2 (this one with 2wd tailshaft)

ZF S5-42

Note the diagonal ribs, PTO ports, and the sexy "ZF" on the side.

Will the ZF bolt to a 205?

Yup...same spline and bolt pattern. But you may need to put a notch in the adapter for the 205's shift linkage

.... and I would definitely provide a stout mount for the 205. Those ZFs are far too $$ to be needlessly breaking cases and tailshafts.
