I believe the socket size for the rear 60 spindle nut is 2-9/16" hex. The front spindle nuts use a 6-prong socket. There is a newer style also, but the type escapes me for the moment. A standard 3/4" drive or 1/2" drive 1-5/16" socket will work on the pinion nut. You may need to scrape a lot of grime out of the recess to get it to fit all the way in.

Just double checked(like I said I would). The hex socket required for the spindle nuts on a rear Dana 60 is 2-9/16". The hex socket required for the pinion nut is 1-5/16", which is the norm for 7/8" thread like found on the Dana 60 pinion shaft. the Dana 44 pinion shaft is 3/4" thread, which nut would be a 1-1/8" hex. Of course, I've gotten neater and silly professional in my latter years, but I've never encountered a spindle nut that a hammer and a flat blade screw driver could not tighten or loosen, with the possible exception of loosening one that had a spun bearing and got super hot, super loaded.

Where the hell did you guys get these 2 9/16" sockets for the rear D60?! Apparently the Napa part #KDS2436 no longer exists because the site says it can't find it and clerks say they don't stock anything that big (although somehow my dad got one that was about 3"-4" for the rearend of our GMC 8000 dump truck from them...)

Snap-on makes a thin wall impact socket that works for the pinion nut, it is
1 5/16", part number is IMFS420. It is a snug fit in a 1310 yoke but it works. Older pinion nuts were 1 1/4" but not many of those still around. Gus

But not every store has a KD section...as in Chillicothe, Ohio's 2 Advance stores, 2 Autozone stores, and 1 Napa don't have the socket and Waverly, Ohio's Advance, Autozone, and Napa don't have the socket either...
We're talking about 2 different things here. You're talking about a socket for the pinion nut, I'm talking about a socket for the hub locknut on a FF D60....

I just tack 2 small pieces of 3/16 thick"-1" wide flat bar to the socket for a 60 front and use it for my rear 60 too, fits perfect.

This has shit all to do with the question at hand, but I was in Chillicothe two days ago. Stopped to see my bud. Yes I want a cookie; make it a snickerdoodle.
