converting 5 lug hp d44 to 8 lug
What I have is a high pinion Dana 44 from a 77-79 Ford F150, and a Dana 44 TTB from an 82 F250. Can the hubs and/or rotors from the TTB F250 be swapped onto the solid axle D44's outer knuckles/spindles/etc? And yes, I know about the 8 lug conversion using Chevy parts, but figured I would ask if the Ford parts will work since I already have them.

Im not sure i have taken eight lug hubs spindle and brake caliper holders off of the front of a solid axle and put them on my five lug d44.

the more i think about i dont think it will work. The hubs off of the f250 ttb i have will not work on a d44 but will work on a d60. So i would imagine that the hub would also be different

you have the parts
you tell us if they swap dana docs dont show a part number for the hubs, they say contact Ford rock auto lists an ACDelco hub that covers every year from 73-89 couple of hours you would know for sure by trying it. post pics when you figure it out. dana docs have 1979 f150 seal 35313 inner bearing set 706110x outer bearing set 706111x dana docs do not show a 1982 f250 so need a BOM to use, I picked a few of them an 80 and 81 and 83 all used seal 40709 inner bearing kit 706690x outer bearing kit 706111x |

rock auto says the 79 and 82 F250 use the same rotor, raybestos 6084
and they say it is the same rotor used on the 1979 F350 4x4, and the same rotor on 1988 f350 4x4, 1995-1998 have a different number, slightly larger OD Last edited by mj; 01-07-2009 at 12:45 AM. |

The hubs and rotors will work from the ttb f250 but it will not mount on the 5 lug spindles nor use the stock calipers. 8 lug d44 hd used dual piston calipers. My advice to you is to get the outers off a 77.5-79 d44 hd (leaf sprung axle) knuckles out. It will be a bolt on swap.
Check out fullsizebronco.com search for 8 lug swap and it will give you all the part numbers, sites to purchase stuff, and more than ample Info you'll need. |
