Bleeding the high pressure oiling system 6.0L
I put an EGR delete on my 03 6.0L powerstroke, and now It will not start. I have checked all the electrical connections and everything seems fine. The engine ran fine before the work. I also added a 4" exhaust while I was working on it. It will crank over just fine and almost start, blows some black smoke.
I filled the fuel filter cup last night as I was trying to get it going last night. It already had fuel in it and I just topped it off. So I checked the oil filter housing as well and it was pretty much empty, so I filled it up. Should I bleed the oiling system to remove any air that may have entered? When it is cranking the oil pressure goes up to the middle of the gauge. Where is the best place to bleed the air out of the high pressure oiling system? If it is not this, it will be the FICM. What code reader should I get, I don't want to spend that much, but it will need continuous reading and its own battery power. Should I just tow it in to have it looked at? |

Not sure exactly what you mean by egr delete but it will probably be a baaaad idea- that engine relies on egr as part of it's primary functions-removing it will piss off the ecm- trust me-perhaps you could give pics or details of "egr delete?"

Check your icp sensor for oil in connector. You shouldn't have to bleed the h/p oil cause you never had that part of the system apart to delete the egr . I would also double check the ficm connectors to mack sure they are not loose benthere done that

They are not loose, But I do think that the FICM is the culprit though. I think that it is going to go in to someone with a code reader today. I don't have the coin to drop on a reader and buy a new FICM, plus I am tired of working on this thing.
