Newbie don't flame too hard

Hey guys i'm new here but have been lurking for a long time i have an 89 f-150 that is hardly as extreme as any of your stuff but gets me where i need to go. I also have more mods done to it than i can list but it's basically a 450h/p (desktop dyno) carbed 306 with a 125 shot ontop of that. The trans is an aod with a 3500 converter and lentech valvebody. It has a leveling kit and 33x12.5r15 bfg mall terrains (my friend and i share a set of mud terrains too). It has a ttb front end with 4.56 gears and a 8.8in rear with 4.56 gears and a trac lock with stacked clutches, pretty soon i am going to upgrade to a detroit locker in the rear with a rear cover girdle. I am also going to start doing more suspention mods and want to go high enough to clear some ground hawgs around 37-40in tall which would mean a d60 swap (probably won't get into this for about another year) but just thought i would introduce myself-i don't have any current pics of the truck but here is the latest one from almost a year ago lol it now has a brushgaurd on it with 2 offroad lights and a nicer set of rims i got off a parts truck

And does anyone know a legal place to wheel in PA? They shut down paragon and Rousch Creek is kinda far to drive....

that's why i love my truck desktop dyno actually said 456 h/p at 6500rpms n/a

it's got a set of tfs fast as cast heads rpm air gap intake 750 mechanical secondary holley comp 280hr cam comp roller lifters comp ultra gold rockers forged pistons dss main girdle 1 5/8ths headers with a 2.25in collector (i know i am losing h/p there) and a 125 shot of juice and i shift at 6500 and don't have to wind it to the moon + i have like 400ft/lbs? of torque

i love that i can pull up next to a corvette at a light and have a good chance of beating him with 33s on my truck

Wow, thats awesome. Same rwh for your truck based on "similarly modded mustangs"?

My advice? This is the proper subsection for pure "newbie don't flame too hard" speculation: /forum/43-newbie-general-4x4-discussion/

I really doubt that "similarly modded" mustangs have 33 inch tires and a t-case.

I will admit to being a big fan of the sleeper theme though.

continue shifting that 302 at 6500, that stock bottom end will love you long time.

450hp on top of a 125 shot of nitrous? Mustang guys are breaking their 302 blocks ALL the time at the 500hp mark, its pretty good rule of thumb that if you go past that on a 302, youll be buying a new block soon.

I bet you dont break the 300hp at the wheels mark before nitrous.

Maybe a stock 302/5.0L. But, not a built one.

Granted this isn't a Mustang board, I know PLENTY of guys running 590HP + on 5.0L engines in street cars reliably.

Also know of a few guys in town that run 1200HP + on non-street drivable cars.

Haven't done it in a while cuz I can't afford another hobby. But, used to go to the Dyno Drags in town and watch these cars light up the Dyno. All go, no show...

Are these aftermarket blocks or blocks filled with block filler? Im talking about standard production 5.0 blocks. This is a common problem with them once they reach the 500hp ish mark.

here is a pic of how it sits right now finishing putting it together and i don't know how the axles will handle it that's why i am getting a girdle for the 8.8in it has 31 spline stock axles lol if it blows up i have a spare 9in sitting around i can build up and pop in there, it used to have a set of holley systemax heads but i wasn't happy with them

i also heard it was 500whp not crank hp (not sure how much truth there is in that though) that the blocks tend to bust open either way it isn't going to be sprayed too much maybe three times a year or so

Truck or HO short block? If it's truck I'd say you'd be lucky to hit 300 hp...

Regardless of what the desktop dyno says I like your truck.

I wouldn't be braggin about the HP though. IF you want a sleeper than you gotta act the part. The saying "under promise, over deliver" is something you need to take into consideration.

This thread has caused me to realize my motor outputs eleventy brazillion horsepower, and that's just at the cigarette lighter. Actual rwhp is impossible to compute with todays computers. When I mash on the gas pedal, the sheer gravitational stressors caused by my tires lighting up collapses space and time generating a black hole in my wake.

Xtr3me!
