when you have a burnt/seized forward clutch will the transmission make a weird sound almost like pressure leaking down, this is after the engine is started then shut off, at first i thought it was the exhaust pipes creeking but i crawled under the truck and herd that sound. it was a pulsing/clack/tick sound... idk had some other ppl tell me a valve might be stuck.
mechanical damage can make all sorts of sounds, the forward clutch is usually fed by the manual valve, ie the one that is controlled by the shift linkage, up-shifting is controlled by the solenoids, main line pressure is controlled by a solenoid, if it is loaded in park or neutral, something is seized, fluid should show burnt/smelly dark, something like that...
yeah it smells pretty bad, i drove it around today and it shifts into second gear but that's it, no reverse either. I'm gonna rebuild it, any advice on kits, I don't tow with it I just need it to drive back and forth I don't need a bad add kit or anything just budget friendly. Thanks for the info.
no reverse verifies stuck forward clutch, it has to disengage to allow reverse... i used a transstar? kit, think it was under $200.... probably gonna need some hard parts tho....
