So i have been a member of pirate for a few years now and have just worked up the courage to post a build thread of my junk haha so i hope i dont get flamed to bad.
Specs
95 Ranger
96 5.0L
Built 4R70W
Twinstick 205
D-44/FF14B
Extended arms/63"Chevys
4.88"s LS front Detroit Rear
Dovetailed/skidded rear
35"Boggers/35"Xterrains
Thats about it that i can think of. It is currently getting a 31"x19" Griffin alum. rad. Derale tranny cooler built tranny and twinsticked 205 front bumps and front axle truss.
And i am only 18 and pay for the rig with my own money so dont hate.
If i ever had to i would cut off all those old brackets and build new ones and new coil buckets. I did those when i was 16 i didnt have very much fab skills.
Thanks its still not close to done though still needs a cage before anything else though then 4 link rear.
UPDATE Front axle truss is done will post pics.
Bump pads are all done and front end is all back together. Still waiting on my tranny.
I have a question last year at the dunes going up the hills in 4x4 the front end had a lot of wheel hop my caster is at 5* which i think is correct or should be close enough right? Could my shocks maybe cause it to do this? by not having enough dampening maybe? Also the front end was pretty bouncy in the wooped out section would a better shock help with this?
What do you guys recomend for shocks?
Thanks
Well i got almost everything done and the truck is running and driving good just need to get some high angle drive shafts made gonna go with 1410 yokes ill try to get some pics
It had the 4.0 with manual tranny and no i dont have them.
Well still waiting on my drive shaft but it should be here friday i did get my twin sticks done though where can i get one of those cool little shifter boots for the twin sticks i know that someone makes em but havent found them?
I think it's a good start, but there are some things I would change:
As you stated earlier, I would rebuild that front track bar bracket and maybe upgrade it to a more substancial track bar with heim joints.
I hate the bumper. I think given what I've seen of your fab skills, you can make something that fits the body style of your ranger far better than that bumper, and even have provisions for a winch mount.
Clean up those clearance cuts with a flapper disc and possibly reinforce them. Also, a little paint never hurt anyone.
Ya i know i dont like the bumper either but im gonna leave it until i get a tube bender and then make some tube bumpers interior cage and back half it but i cant afford it right now.
Engine x member is getting rebuilt after may 21 since the truck is going to the dunes so i just cut that crap temporary.
And yes track bar and coil mounts will hopefully get redone this summer sometime. I did them when i was 16 and just started fabbin they have held up pretty well though.
Its really not to tall it just looks like it cause it towers over the 35's lol but it is pretty stable/predictably stick it in a hole and the rest just kinda follows along but it will be lower when i link it for sure.
Thanks for the compliment though
Im gonna bring this thread back from the dead.
I finally have a truck to daily drive so this wont need to be street legal anymore should have small updates here and there.
On the list
rebuild front coil buckets
rebuild trac bar
front tube bumper
pull motor install mustang pan
lower drivetrain 3''
remove body lift
build new frame exit headers
remove as much wiring and unneeded crap as possible
Ill post pics as i go along.
