I've acquired an EFI system and stock harness and want to install it on my carbed 351W. I basically just want to run the EFI, I don't need anything else (I don't think). What can i cut off? Will I need to do anythything to the computer (re-flash)? What else will I need? Do you recommend using the stock harness or aftermarket? If aftermarket...who's?
Thanks
What are you putting it in? If youre trying to use the factory truck upper manifold then good luck. Its extremely tall and doesnt fit under alot of hoods, even with a body lift or hood bubble. Most people use the stock lower and then an adapater to a Mustang upper.
On my 351w EFI conversion I used the FMS Engine and Main wiring harnesses. I dont know if you can even by the engine harness anymore. The instructions were really clear and made wiring a snap as long as you can find your Crank and Run signals from your chassis harness
Use the stock harness, no reason to use aftermarket unless you are just looking for a super clean install. If you want to use an aftermarket setup, you can get one from painless (a DIY kit). Otherwise, you will need certain sensors and such plugged in to make the motor run right. You should be able to strip off a lot though; I would grab a shop manual with a good schematic and start cutting.
