so my build is changin fast and i had a question for you guys who know more than me. i have a 67 f100 on a 78 f150 frame with the 351/400 mounts. whats involved with droppin in a 300? jus new mount towers or ??? dont say jus v-8 it, i already have a 460 project goin, i have the 300/trans/t-case and wana drop it in, jus need to know what im gettin into. i searched for 300 swaps and mostly found 80s trucks and im sure the frames gotta be different after 79
Why don't you go get a set of 300 mounts for your truck from the parts store, and get to work. There're only around $40 or so. The 300 mounts are wedge shaped, and the crossmember should be the same. A buddy did a 300 to 460 swap on a 77 150, and I don't remember a crossmember swap being involved, just motor mounts. I know its that way on newer trucks.
i thought the motor mount towers or whatever you want to call them had to be changed, or are those what your talking about? i dont think the parts store carrys the mounting towers, but maybe im wrong
The radiators for the the 300 is slightly different than a v-8 rad but you can get around that with longer hoses.
When I get home this afternoon i'll go stare are the 400 in the 77.5 and 71 and see just how different the mounts are.
