I did some searching, and came up with a few subjects on this, sort of. I get that these trucks need a track bar because they have the front mounted shackles, but is the track bar necessary for rigs with a shackle reversal setup like the Sky MFG kit? I asked them, they said if you have a 460 or diesel then it helps; but on semi trucks (what I work on every day), they are all rear shackle leaf spring monobeam single-shock-per-wheel setups and the track bar is not present. And obviously the rear axle on ford trucks never had a track bar.
I ask only because I am swapping a KP HP 60 from a '90 CC LB F350 w/ 351 to an '88 RC LB F250 w/ 460. I'll be running 40's MAX, and 37x12.5 mil-surp Hummer tires for now.
FWIW, a buddy has an 84 Chevy RC LB K3500 4x4, but it just uses a super beefy sway bar that mounts at the frame in front of the axle, and then on either side of the axle just inboard of the springs IIRC, but no track bar.
Also, in my searching, I found that 99+ SD trucks don't need the track bar unless they have big tires.
It doesn't bother me to install it, my main concern is the track bar limiting suspension travel.
Thanks in advance for any and all insight on this one, and maybe we can settle it once and for all.
