I know JBG sells a set of poly mounts, but I need non-factory crossmember style. (read, my 351 is going into a non-ford) Was looking at using some 2x2x.25 angle iron with two tabs to slide over a poly busing sleeved in DOM, which was welded to square tube. Anyone done something similar?
i built a set similar to what you are talking about for mine a few years ago. They are holding up real well. I simply used some leaf spring bushings for them. If you want I can post a pic of two tomorrow ( gotta take the pics ) If you would like to see them.
x2 on the energy suspension leaf spring bushings and DOM. Really the only "special" tools you would need are a hole saw to match the OD of your DOM, and a welder, BUT you could always trace your OD onto square tube and cut it out with a die grinder IF you are good with one.
