NP435 noisy 3rd???
So i tore my np435 out today do to 3rd being excessively noisy. Upon tearing the top off and looking in side I don't see any problems yet. Need to tear down the rest of the way.
Anyone have any advise at what to look at or what might be the culprit? 3rd was really noisy. |

I never rebuilt my NP435, but third gear was always noisy as hell, I wheeled the crap outta it, mud raced it for a few years, drove it everyday to work, nothing ever broke out of it. It was just noisy. Same deal in my dads '79, it was noisy for about 10 years, sold the truck, still going with the same trans. I wouldnt be too worried about it, either rebuild it, see if it changes, or throw a couple jugs of that lucas oil stabilizer stuff in there, might quiet it down some.
