Track bar question?

I did a shackle reversal on my 96 f-250.Has dana kingpin axle. Also have 6'' skyjacker springs up front.Couple questions. What should my caster angle be?I have cross over steering from sky. Also now that the shackles are moved to the rear location do i still need to run/need a track bar?If i get my caster angle correct will i need steering stabilizers.Gonna run 38.5 hawgs. Thanks

IIRC caster is about 5*, moving the spring shackles will not effect wether or not you need a track bar, you can try it without and see how it handles. If it handles poorly then hook up the track bar. If you get all your alignment set properly then a steering stabilizer is not needed.

The shackle reversal will eliminate the need for the track bar- all the trucks I have converted, small lift to large, never needed it. This is due to the pivot point being moved to the rear of the spring. As for the caster 5-8 degrees is needed for good street maners- you will need to take into account the pinion angle also to avoid binding at the cv. Moog make adjustable lower ecentrics for the KP axles-amazon.com has them-but I have never used them and I am not sure if they work well, they allow for adjustment of caster and camber. I suggest steal shims that bolt to the spring pack with the center pin for adjusting the pinion angle but will hurt caster so you will need to find the happy medium, make sure you check for binding at full droop. You will probably need at least dual stabalizers but I always lean towards power assist especially in the fords. With the pressure of the steering and big tires they are prone to break the rivot were the motor crossmember and frame rail meet right behing the box.

The trac bar is there for bumpsteer. Depending on your steering mods you may or may not need it. Has nothing to do with shackle location.

Pretty common on leaf sprung trucks with steep drag link angles, like 99 and newer Superduty's.

just an update

Ok i measured my caster angle. Its at 10 degrees. Now take into account this was on uneven terrain as my truck is sitting behind a body shop right now torn apart.I have cross over and my draglink with the drop pitman arm is almost horizontal. When i get it back on solid level pavement im hoping that drops to about 8 degrees. If not i will have to put some caster wedges under the front springs.I have dual steering stabilizers across the front on the tie rod.Honestly the tires im running are 38.5 hawgs and i bought them used. They have alot of tread but they are worn uneven.I put equal bags in them hoping that i wouldnt have to put a million wheel weights on.I dont think it worked though.Im gonna take the tires off the wheels ,ditch the equal and try balancing them.Another thing to take into account is i never had it aligned after i put the 60 under her and lift, etc.I got the toe close using a measuring tape but again it needs to be properly aligned.Any thoughts opinions????Death wobble is there and scary!
