2001 Ford Excursion 6 Speed Manual Swap
OK, I have done a fair amount of searching and have found absoultely nothing on this. I have a 2001 Ford Excursion with 15" of lift and 44's:
![]() I have blown my 4R100 transmission and am trying to determine what all I would need to convert it to a 6 speed manual. I can't seem to find anyone that has done this swap. The entire lift kit on this truck is off a Super Duty so I know the chassis is the same I am just curious if I am going to run into any crazy computer issues with my truck not running or instruments not working etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the reply, I am very serious about it. I am either going to buy an aftermarket auto tranny for around 4k or swap it to stick shift if I can do so within the same budget limitations. I am going to be doing one or the other very soon before cold weather gets here as this puppy won't fit in my garage. I forgot to mention it's a 6.8 V10 engine if that matters.

This truck is for the most part my daily driver so I don't want to take on a project that will take weeks/months to complete but at the same time I have done many auto to manual and vice versa swaps in my day. I'm not at all worried about the physical "bolt it in" type stuff of swapping steering columns and pedal assemblies. The parts I am worried about would be gauges working properly ie. speedometer things of that nature. Do these trucks have a seperate computer for the transmission that I can simply swap out or is it all built in so I will have to be changing entire ECM harnesses? Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
Oh, and I've decided the truck looks better now that if it had a 5" lift and hacked up fenders.....

The manual trucks have a different pcm, a few guys on PSN have done the swap, easiest is to find a parts truck and get everything you need, besides the bolt on parts i'm sure you are aware of get the pcm from the manual truck and all your guages will work the same.
Even if you can't find a manual pcm yours will still work. here's the link; http://powerstrokenation.com/forums/...=auto+zf6+swap |
