Why not just order the 1356 Strong Box and bolt it in. Been following these threads and kit developments for a while now and finally reached a guy who can/will do it. Jacob@behemothdrivetrain.com
He had a roadblock on the 4340 hardened (new) shafts from another vendor who was supposed to supply them. He found another supplier, scrapped the idea of re-splining shafts, and is back in business. I just ordered the 1st one off the line . No phone tag, JB weld, shifter mods, or chopping up cases.... for about the same price as the kits... just bolt it in. I'll start a new thread with pics and action shots once I get it in.

I just talked to Duffey and ordered the 1356/205 kit with the short shaft. (I already modded the 205 to run the shift rails out the back)
He also sells the longer shaft if you are wanting to still shift the 205 out the front like it comes from the factory. He was easy to talk to and went over fitting the block plate. I'll post up pics and an update as soon as it gets here.

Bronco D20! The standard 1350/54 kit you make now is too long to fit in an extended cab ranger with the fuel tank in its stock location. Plus twin stick would be killer!
Seen a couple guys fab them up with welded/resplined shafts. A new 1 piece shaft would be the ticket!

If you make a 1356-bronco D20 kit it could have a decent market in the Early Bronco crowd. Lots of people are putting in zf 5spds or 4r70w's and paying $400 for an adapter to use the D20. The 1356 would take the place of the adapter and add an extra low range.

The 1356 Doubler came in the mail last week or the week before. It was packaged well and the machine work looks top notch.
I am locating a 1356 right now. Once I have it I will post up an update with a few pics.

I was running his 1350/1354 kit before my v8 swap and was happy with. I bought his new 1356/205 kit (the long one) and will have it finished up soon. Im just finishing the little details with my 5.0 swap and I will be able to test it out. Just like his last kit, good quality and simple. I had to cut the front off the longer of the two shift rails on the 205 and making some shift linkage takes a little work but its not rocket science...

I have the short version of the 1356/205 from duffy. Good quality stuff. I got the aluminum case 1356 so i could weld in the patch plate after cutting the case in half. I did have to run the shift rails oit the back side of the 205, but it wasn't too bad and it saved me a couple of inches worth of rear driveshaft.

Thanks guys, the shifter is one of the things I was wondering about with the long kit. I could run the rails out the back, but I didn't want to if I didn't have to. White Trash, you said you had to mod your shifter, are you using a twin stick on the 205?

twin stick... I just cut about an inch off the front shift rail so it would clear the adapter plate for the 1356 and made linkage. The rear shift rail fits with no cutting. Now both shift rails are the same instead of the front rail being a little longer. I was going to do the rear shift swap but Im lazy so I ordered the 2" longer one and out came the cut off wheel.
