Now came the fun part of putting on cab. I got real creative on thus one and I used the winch again..
![]() I ran the front winch line to a snatch block on the white car then back to a tube welded to the frame with another snatch block then directly down the frame to cab.. I was on my carport roof when I took pic

It only went up so far then it needed to be propped up and then again pulled with the winch

The 390 fe motor was all taken apart at this point trying to figure if I wanted to stroke it to a 410 or not..

Front clip going on..
![]() As you can see I do all the work by myself. It can be difficult but I manage. I even hung my doors this way. I wish I had a pic of how I mounted my truck box. I used the rear winch up over the frame to the crossmember at the back of the cab on a snatch block then back down to the box which was on ground near rear bumper . I welded a little tab with a hole on the back face of box connected a strap and pulled it right up with the winch. Worked like a charm and I just remember I was Uber hung over that day!

I tweaked the look a little then transferred to 3/16 steel
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Just for a cleaner look I recessed the fairlead back about 3/4". Little more work but the front face was to flat and needed some shape..

Changed the sides to a square corner vs the taper.
By far the sides were the hardest trying to get it to look right. Let's just say I spent alot of time just starring at it and making cardboard templates..

Now thus is the trick to getting a front winch to fit as compact as mine is first a body lift helps but in order to push it back tight I had to cut the bottom section of rad support that kicked down and do a 180 flip so it went up. This all gives me just enough room to mount it with about 3/4-1" clearance in the highest spots!
![]() The center vertical brace was then welded back on with a little angle tab.

I thought this might of been Dan stepping in when I felt my phone vibrate to new post update.. This is where I take these bumpers to the next level in recovery aid while offroad. I had an idea!

So with my previous roll over incident it took 2 trucks with winched to get me back on all 4's ! This was in an ideal situation in a wide open area. If I were to roll again another time in a much more tight spot it could get ugly.
I felt needed a way to roll myself back over. So I started planning..

I came up with the idea of mounting what I call an " outrigger" bar ( a term from work) where I could bolt it to my bumpers and use the aid of my winches to roll myself back over. Take it for whatever you want but this is what I did..
I started by pulling front bumper welded everything up and started drilling some holes.. ![]() I borrowed a mag base drill from work( the red one on bumper) and drilled some 5/8 holes on the top face of bumper which with this drill is a breeze as it cuts in one shot the outside of the hole. It's a heavy duty drill we use. Badass drills!

I made this tube with plates to be able to interchange to either end to bolt on..

Now being able to bolt these on in a roll situation I needed to test how much weight the bumper could support. Also the reason I made the shackle holders removable was so I could take them off so cable wouldn't hit them..
Here's the result

Now that gas welder is Heavy and on first try my bumper had some top twist when it was picking the load. Well took off bumper aging and reinforced the he'll out if the inside..
I ran a couple vertical gussets and plated a cap too but in a "L" shape so I could still acess lights, not sure if I got a pic if that

After that the welder was able to be lifted right off the ground running the winch!

Another tube made and welder lifts off ground!
![]() The snatch block would not normally bolt onto the top of the end tube like in the pic I just did this cause I had to raise my lifting point to get the welder off the ground.

This back one was different cause the fairlead was recessed in bumper and cable would bind. Nothing a home made roller fairlead wouldn't fix. Good thing those shackles unbolt
