send me your e-pump, and I'll send you my mechanical pump

If you didn't mount the fuckin' pump on the frame rail, you'd be golden

Minor update...

Got the wiring done for my trailer brake. Now I need a rear bumper, and a front bumper, and some tube to do my radius arms.

i've swapped axles over to some donor axles that are 3.55's. Since I'm driving with it mostly, and not towing, this will work better for me. At 60, I'm running about 1600 rpms

One question though, can I bend my radius arms inward to clear the tires? Basically, put a 'v' or notch in the main arm about 16" behind the axle. I figure that I would bring the top of the radius arm down to that point, and plate in between them.

My other thought was to bring the main arm straight back, then leave a section out where the tires would rub. Plating on the inside *should* take care of any strength issues, right?

Critique my idea.

I plan to build bent beam radius arms - I need every inch of turning radius I can get

Here is my idea, kinda mocked up with pieces of scrap I have floating aroudn in the garage. Yes, that's one of my 'little helpers' sporting her 'boy haircut' in the background

The plan looks like to put a ~15* angle in each end of my radius arm lower. I'll bring the upper section of the arm back to the bend, and I *in theory* will gain a couple more degrees my turning radius, as well as not lose any strength on the arms.

The radius arms are going to be 2" .250" wall square tubing, plated with 3/16" plate.

here's a sketchup of what I'm thinking.

Looks like the arm bends inward about 5" or so, and the top axle eye will actually sit a little higher that the frame mounting point.

critiques? Or should I just say fuckit and build it?

Adaptability is key here. You can buy the arms, use the buckets (modified?) and track bar mounts. Duff's sells the wedges and multiple degrees of c-bushings. Hope that helped!

I ended up forgetting about drawing fuel through the stock sending unit and pick-up in the tank. I drilled a hole in the bottom of stock tank where the sump is at and I put a bulkhead fitting in it with an elbow and a barb and ran all new Goodyear hose from Fleet Pride from the rear tank to the valve, got to put new rubber lines from the front tank to the valve now, if the front tank sucks air tomorrow I will do the same with it...

interesting.

I'm curious to see how well that works out for you. I would be scared of putting a hole in the bottom of my fuel tank for sure though

welding up my mounts from Ballistic today. They look .

Now I need some nickel rod to weld the tube to the pumpkin, and maybe to stick the brackets to the pumpkin. I *think* I won't have to though. I might end up trussing the axle anyway *shrug*

Hmmm...

After some more headscratchin, beer drinkin', and figurin' it's been decided...

I need a shop

Seriously, If there's anyone in Vegas that has some shop space I can rent for a few days, preferably with 220/110 available, I'd be appreciative. I *really* want to put this under the truck before I weld anything together solid, on the arms.

I can do the moutns to the axle, and I'm pretty sure I can get eevrything close without pre-positioning the axle, but it would make me happier to do it the right way.

got the axle brackets welded on.

You can see where I had to trim 1" out from the DS leaf mount. I've VERY impressed with the fit/finish of the Ballistic brackets.

Next up is rebuilding crap on this axle. New ball joints, new seals inside, new bearings outside, and new seals for the hubs. Probably new brakes too

Bumping this back up. Finally, got my upper buckets tacked together. Planning on welding these to the frame where the show tower sits right now, then moving the shock tower directly behind them. The lower shock mount will be on the top of the radius arm.

Critique my build - do you think these mounts will need more triangulation?

If you have the room I'd run a gusset down the side(s) or tie them into the shock mount. You cant have anything that handles the load of you heavy ass deisel too strong.

BTW-I just read through the whole build and I will concure that fuel lines/pumps SUCK!

Had the same problem when I swapped the frame on my Tj. Would run then would stumble and die. My problem was wiring though....after trying for 13hrs to fix it

Well, the shock tower is going to be mounted directly behind it. I'll probably bolt the tower to the frame, then weld it all together. I'm debating about running a gusset down to the frame both front and rear, I just don't know how big to make it. That part might have to wait.

I got the radius arms coped tonight for the Ballistic joint (rear) and the 4 poly bushings (front). I'll try and get them all tacked together this week. I'm planning on swapping this axle the week after Christmas.

Is the bucket too narrow front to back? Will the springs rattle in the bucket either on a rough road or when the radius arms droop?

How about some 1.25" OD DOM for tube gussets going front and back?

If I had some, and a way to bend it....

Maybe we can get something bent up in the desert

Couple of pictures.

The 3" joint is from Ballistic, and is a pile of shit

I'm gonna run it for now, but I'm probably gonna replace it with something from RuffStuff in the future.

I'm EXTREMELY disappointed in the Ballistic joints though. Threads are all fucked up, and continually recutting threads when you spin the nut in and out

Anyway. It looks like they'll fit in with little no bends on my radius arms - I was thinking I would have to wrist them (still might) to clear my tires.

More pics to come.

i would kinda like to use a coil spring shock combo for my 3 link but i havent really found anything cheap thats up to the task of supporting the 7.3 powerstroke. idk how much lighter the idi is tho
