JTR's Ranger build
Specs
*1979 F250 frame/1990 Ranger ext cab *393 Windsor, CHP rotating assembly, FRP heads, FRP roller rockers, Megasquirt injection with 460 injectors, Duraspark ignition, E2000 pump, OBA *C6, 203/205 with Jeds adapter, ORD tripple sticks *1/2 ton rear springs up front *XJ or TJ coils and four link rear - Actually went with ZJ fronts *Full hydro with PSC 6.0 steering valve, Surplus Center double ended ram, saginaw pump from a 85 GM van with factory reservoir *39.5x16.5x16.5 Pitbull Rockers on 12 bolt H1s, recentered with pressed centers *78/79 Dana 60 front with Reid knuckles welded, 14 bolt welded All this running gear was in my Jeep; I was going to back half it and buggy it out but the frame was trashed. Had the 79 F250 sitting in the back yard so I decided to build a new rig. My old wore out Jeep Wagonner ![]() ![]() Frame was patched and fixed multiple times ![]() ![]() Torque mount for doubler was tearing the frame ![]() ![]() Cutin up and getting all the good parts out ![]() ![]() ![]() Main motivation for a full cab, wife and kids need to be warm.

As luck would have it, a friend drove by and asked "what are you guys doing"? "Hey, Charlie has the backhoe at his house for the weekend to pull the 300 straight 6 out of his parts truck". "Bring that over and we will set that cab on your frame". Yep, a lot easier.
Thanks everyone! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Cut the Ranger mounts down to fit and set the body as low as I could. ![]() ![]() Pretty tight under the hood. Had to cut the heater plenum to fit valve cover.

Definitely looking forward to this build. When my 79 cab gets trashed I will be putting on a ranger cab. Are you going to cage it/exo? Are the leaves in the front ford 57'' rear springs? Could you get the measurement from your front spring eye to the eye that goes through the frame? I am thinking about putting some rear leaves on my 79.

With your high steer, couldnt you run the arms on the back side but have to run 1 helicopter arm on the pass side?
Looking great so far keep it up!

If you are to buy replacement bushing for the front frame shackle mount, the shackle bushings are not as wide as the rear spring bushings meaning some kind of spacer would be needed. Hope that makes sense..... Quote:

I like the white on the bottom so I am just going to repaint the red. The color was Burgundy...
