coming up the trail and you hit meadow lake at the fork in the road take the north west (turn left)road out, you will then run into another fork east(turn right) heads to jackson meadows reservoir and west (turn left) takes you to bowman lake.

Anyone know if there is still snow at Meadow lake? I'm going to run it the other direction Thursday. HW 20 - bowman - Meadow - HW 89- Truckee. Leaving the buggy at home and taking the Tacoma on 31's so I'm hoping for not too much snow.
Edit - Ok, read the other thread about Meadow. Anyone think Jackson Meadows would have less snow? I was hoping to do a loop or head to south lake for the night.

Those are the directions. The trail ends at Meadow Lake. At the intersection, near the city info sign, just like that route...take the hard, almost V left. You'll go past the town cemetery on the right. You'll hang a left near Tollhouse lake. It's 9 miles from Meadow to Bowman road. When it terminates at Bowman, make the double back left. If you just go angle straight right, you'll end up at Jackson Meadow Lake. You can still get back to Bowman, by turning left on FR41, but that's longer that turning around. Once you're on Bowman Road...it's only a matter of time before you go past Bowman Lake, a few miles later it turns to asphalt...and you're back to Hwy 20.
On quad's and RZR's....we go every September from Meadow Lake to Washington, and go have lunch at the Hotel...and go back to camp.

Fordyce to bowman lake
I'm talking about going from the top of winch hill 5 to bowman lake... Not sure quads and rzr's can do that

The map shows the only route from the top of the trail to bowman that I know of! Unless your hiking or flying?

![]() Any vehicle registered with a plate or green sticker is allowed on forestry roads. That whole area is TNF. Dirt bikes, quads, side by sides are all ok. FYI - There is a speed limit on the forestry roads.

If you have seen something on Google Earth that gives you the impression there's some other way....by all means, post it...and I'll tell you why it's not legal. The only other 4 wheeling route, was the old Byer Lakes Trail. The bridge is gone to cross (but you can cross at low water), the trail now goes through "roadless", defacto Wilderness at Grouse Ridge. There are other ways than what that map shows...but they are longer. As for quads and RZR's...they do the Fordyce trail just fine...unless you're talking legally, ie: Paved road...then no, we couldn't.
