I talked to PG&E today and they said the water release will stay pretty much status quo for at least a week but that there could be fluctuations anywhere from 200cfs to 400 cfs. There is a new manager for the Fordyce dam and it's sounds like he might be hedging his bet a bit. Then again, the water crossings this time of year are always hard to predict.
So if you go, take care when crossing the river. What's crossable in the morning may not be what you see when you get back or to the next crossing. Don't plan on a day trip. If you get stranded inbetween crossings BE PREPARED to spend a night or more. There is no such thing as a day trip on Fordyce!! As always, use your head when attempting to cross and know where the proper lines are.

Yep a storm is coming in. If you are coming plan accordingly.
Warm water resistant clothing. Good camping equipment.

im a newbie but spent just about every weekend on fordyce last summer and many times on trail this winter camping in snow. For a first timer I would warn that this trail is nothing like the rubicon. added bonus no reflectors, bathrooms and signs either.

This is a great trail, you will be with a good group of people, plus.... new scenery. From what I've been reading, Tinman will be at IS friday night if you want to head up then. I plan to be at the parking lot at Cisco Grove by 7:30am saturday morning, and I'll be heading out over the 5 dollar trail at 8, that should give us plenty of time to be at Indian Springs by 9. Opening the trail after the winter snows is pretty sweet. check out posts #388 through 395, http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showt...584710&page=16 Added attraction, my buddy Rocky bar will be heading out much later in the afternoon if you want to hook up with him.

got a spot at Cisco campground. Not gonna pay and not stay. Pretty sure we will be there, headed up tommarow afternoon. Shake me if not awake yet if you would like a few newbies going in with you, can't miss us 90 toyota with goldenstate motorsports on the side with a tube bed and a white runner with pink sliders. We would greatly appreciate someone leading us in. Trucks are the same set up 35's, locked front and rear, longs and dual cases.got atleast a 3rd truck set up the same

in!
pretty much all the people I usually go with including my passenger chickened out for one reason or another but I'll be up at the staging area late friday night and will wheel in with anyone that will go on saturday.
I've been looking forward to this for weeks, should be a great trip. I hope we get snow and not rain at least.
