Important access info please read!!

The bridge at the top of the road to Fordyce Lake at Furnace Flat will be replaced by PG&E this summer. Please read the info below and make your plans accordingly.

"All,
I’m hearing PG&E’s schedule to replace the bridge is now 8/13 through mid-September.
FYI, the August 13th is immediately following the Sierra Trek Event.
The bridge will be out of service for approximately a one month period.
It’s recognized that there will be some impacts to the informal recreation that occurs beyond the bridge, but this is necessary work and delaying the project until after Labor Day is seen as unnecessarily risky, (weather related), and also creates resource conflicts with Hydro’s canal outage work that begins in late September.

Once confirmed, notification signs will be posted at several locations along Rattlesnake Road in early July.
Any other suggested methods of notifying the public will also be utilized.

A location exhibit and the title sheet to the 90% design drawings are attached here which include location and vicinity maps.

Please share this information within your group and reply with comments and suggestions.
Thanks,"

Nice to see them fixing the road. This just means they plan on having it open for a long time!

I wonder how much of a dent in trail usage this will cause? I know I use the road almost every time I'm up there.

So the bottom line is we will need to access the trail via Eagle Lakes Staging Area or Meadow Lake and there will be no "In" or "Out" on the committee Route for a few weeks?

I saw that too and wondered what they meant but wasn't going to worry about it. I figured the PIC (people in charge) thought of Trek as Organized and everything else as Informal.

Good to know. I was putting plans together to go there the 22nd so it looks like it will be the 6th I guess.
I forgot about the re-route down by WH1 and why it was done. Just to get the trail away for the creek?

It had turned into a ginormous mudhole.

Any word on if it will be opened on schedule or not?

Committee cutout makes for a pretty easy day trip, which I might like to do this weekend.
