Gate at Cisco is still closed. The road to Jackson meadows is still closed to wheeled traffic.Forest service has canceled people's reservations for camping at Jackson meadows for Memorial Day weekend because of to much snow still.

How high? Think they will drop it low enough to be safe for Memorial day?

They drop it every year, been watching it go down on the chart over the past few weeks. Plan on being up there memorial weekend, sun-mon. Going as far as we can Sun, campin/freezing then out on Mon.

The only time PG&E drops the flow is for Trek. We have all gotten accustomed to low creek flows due to drought and what is scary is the newer users who have started wheeling in the last few years and never experienced the real high creek flows. I highly doubt the creek flows will be down for the holiday but we can hope.

I would think you have to consider all the runoff below the dam even if they were to slow the dam release.

Yes, I was trying to be optimistic for once I've been saying for a while that fordyce ain't going to happen till probably after 4th of July, maybe later.

Also, they probably don't have a choice but to let out what is coming in, I bet the lake is full.

I an waiting until july to even think about fordyce. Probably hit rubicon mid june. A lot of people here have now idea what the long winters look like up there. Memorial weekend camping on top of 8 feet of snow. It is cold, do not use an air mattress.

Went up today around 11 today to check everything out, and the gate is open at Cisco. Lady in the store said the other day there was a PG&E snowcat buried up on Rattlesnake somewhere (I'm assuming snow not mud but I could be wrong) and they had to extricate it with a helicopter. A Sheriff was blocking the gate one day, but might have had something to do with the stuck snowcat. She wasn't too sure.

She stated that the FS still has the road officially closed, the campground is booked solid, and they aren't stopping anybody from going up the road to get to campsites. Beyond the campsites, she did not have any idea how the road looked. She had not spoken to the FS lately and I didn't see anybody else to ask.

The road into Indian Springs staging is a little jacked up at that first little drop-down at the little creek at the helmet sign where I always used to hit my trailer jack, and may take some shovel work to be passable for trailers. It's not quite a 3' drop, but it's close. The dirt looked recently moved. With my 2WD crew there's no way I could make it back up out of there towing my car hauler.

I've been watching the flows. I had a crazy idea that pg&e may be dumping water as much as they can so they can shut it down for the weekend, but I doubt it Iiiiiiiiiiiff I do go, I'm not planning on crossing the creek. But I thought camping at fordyce Lake might not be too bad.

Anyway to find out if the road is actually open or not? I'm definitely not worried about snow over the summit, just don't want to go all the way up there to a closed road.

Interesting the gate at Rattlesnake is now open. It wasn't yesterday.

I did the $5 trial to Eagles Lakes and up to the first crossing.

There was a Forestry crew at the entrance to the Indian Springs staging area. They had a backhoe fixing up that culvert. (It was clogged and flowing over the road yesterday on our way in.)

As for the trail, the dark forest section just after all the club signs in the beginning of the trial is full of water. The section before driveline hill has a full on creek flowing down the rocky part of the trail.

There is a few very small snow patches on the trail just before the first crossing. Here is a pic of the crossing yesterday at about noon. The velocity of the water is FAST.
