Nate, I was just up there. We did a day run Saturday to WH3. It was great, there was no smoke and the sun was hot. I rolled on the passenger side in WH3 and Justin (blue toy buggy) broke his t-case input. We had the parts to fix it but decided it was not worth the time and I would just pull him out dead weight.

I have some buddy's heading up to the con this weekend but I will be out of town with the family. It should be a great weekend have fun.

I was there also, I handed my strap to you to use to pull yourself out, and we had input in truck, but you guys left before we could offer to you. I had blue sammi. Your girlfriend was cool as all heck, not spilling beer and chit.

Thanks for the strap. That was the first time I had to use my Stauns and they worked great. I put some plugs back in my tire at the bottom and aired it up. We also had an input but decided it wasn't worth the time. So I just pulled him back to Cisco. It actually wasn't bad pulling him I was in second or third most of the time which is normal speed so it didn't take any longer. We were back home by 6:30.

Ya she is cool. She was worried about her camera and didn't relies we were on our side until I shut the motor off.

I would have guessed it would be closed up there by now. Didn't Fordyce get closed the first weekend of July last year? We were there the weekend the fires started and thought for sure they would have Fordyce closed off by now.

EDIT: nevermind, just read another thread that answered this question.

It looks like the fire restrictions just went up. I'm not sure if that means Fordyce is closed...It's just as confusing as last year.

Fordyce is not closed... With the fire restrictions you cannot have a fire on the trail only in campgrounds like Cisco grove. If you read the link below it is an update as of this morning. We have this restriction every year, it's not new. Last year they just closed it down so this restriction was void.

Fire Restrictions Go Into Effect on July 1 for the Tahoe National Forest Nevada City...Tom Quinn, Forest Supervisor for the Tahoe National Forest announces that fire restrictions will go into effect beginning July 1. “Fire danger in California is especially high. The combination of on-going lightning fires and the very dry vegetation have caused us to initiate fire restrictions. For the Tahoe National Forest, abandoned, escaped campfires are the primary source of wildfires other than lightning,” said Quinn.

Under these restrictions:

Campfires and charcoal barbeques are only permitted in designated campgrounds and other recreation sites (in the metal rings/grills provided).

Smoking is only permitted in an enclosed vehicle, building, developed recreation site or in a 3-foot area cleared of all flammable material.

Internal combustion engines including OHVs can only be operated on roads or trails except for the Prosser Pit Off-Highway Vehicle Area.

Possession of fireworks is illegal.

In the backcountry, portable stoves and propane-type barbeques, including those that use gas, jellied petroleum or pressurized liquid fuel are permitted with a valid campfire permit. Campfire permits are free and can be obtained at any Forest Service, BLM or CALFIRE office.
