Thank you Fordfascist and friends
Just wanted to say thank you to fordfascist and friends. I broke a rear shaft on winch hill one. First time ever I didn't carry my spare and some of the tools I usually carry and it bit me in the ass. I had some friends come in to bring it to me but still had the unexpected problem of getting the other tire off and couldn't. The stud was stripped out and just spun we beat on it with a hammer but two seconds with an angle grinder they provided and it was off. Good thing the spool splines were a little twisted and their was no way a magnet was getting the rest of the shaft out. Needless to say several groups went by saw the axle out and didn't even ask if I needed help.
Oh well should have had the part/tool myself live and learn. Needless to say thanks guys I appreciated that a lot. My firends that came to get me broke some parts as well so I owe a lot of favors.Brandon

No problem, this is all thanks to GRMHick who happens to carry an entire shop in the back of his 4Runner. I just happened to have a magnet. Anyone who walks all the way back to Eagle Lake Rd. from Winch Hill #1 definitely gets a bad ass award in my book. Glad to see you guys made it out!
And yes, I managed to keep my 82" wheel base GPW off of its roll cage. It got close at the top of Winch Hill 1, but I pussed out and hooked up a strap. I doubt you could hear my voicing of concern from 2 wheels over the sounds of my carb acting like an asshole. I'm thinking EFI is coming soon for the GPW.

Well it didn't go well but I'm home and safe a little worse for wear. My buddy blew a hub just as we left so that started things off a little worse. My panhard bolt sheared and I had to use straps and a bigger bolt slammed inside their to keep it. The bolt sheared and the keeper was still in the back so I was unable to pull it out. I've already got a whole different setup from Ruff Stuff. My other buddy cracked his 9" housing and it seized just outside Cisco. And then to top it all off I fell off of the top of the Jeep atop the trailer onto my neighbors bricks at 12:30am that same night
getting my tent off. That was a rough weekend I will have to admit. Well I guess its time to finish the sammy
