jackson meadows to meadow loake

taking a camping trip out to jackson meadows with some non 4x4 friends that are driving a lexus and honda car bringing the kids etc but were also gonna bring along two quads with us, wheres a good kinda "isolated" spot to camp in or near jackson meadows thats car friendly and ability to ride quads out to meadow lake to check out the northern end of fordyce trail? ive only been to fordyce twice and both times were the southern half of the trail starting at the eagles lake staging area so i am unfamiliar with the northen end of the trail and the meadows lake area. it would be nice to be able to ride the quads from jackson down to meadows lake, or atleast a quad friendly camping spot near jackson meadows.

is it possible/legal to ride quads from jackson meadows to meadows lake area? or do we have to tow the quads down to meadows lake with the one truck and trailer?

any and all information is greatly appreciated thank you in advance

edit: wont let me edit the title to fix the spelling mistake

Yes it is possible

You have to go in thru the backside, in thru catfish lake and that dirt road all the way to meadow, great trail ride.
Good luck

you should just consider driving all those cars to meadow lake, its a good dirt road, and good camping. used to drive an RV and cars to meadow years ago, but you you will get them dusty. The Jackson meadow road/hwy only allows street legal vehicles on it, but no real enforcement, I see dirt bikes and buggies on it alot, it allowed OHVs not to long ago. there are maps at jackson and at the hwy. there are nice gravel roads between jackson and meadow. as far as riding your quads on fordyce trail on that end, you can only go about 1/2 mile before it gets real serious, not saying quads cant do it, but its pretty tough after the mine shaft (youll see it). you could walk it quicker

good luck, probably see you out there

Just camp at the backside of Jackson Meadows. Go over the damn and around the backside to the campgrounds. Then you have good camping near the lake with running water and access to the back roads for the quad. You can access meadow lake from the backside via catfish lake etc. Also you can go to bowman lake and fausherie.

If your friends arent experienced quad riders I wouldnt recommend the ride down into Fordyce as its pretty technical and beats the hell out of you.

thats what i would like to do but some younger children and wifes that want/need running water or at least be accessible to it, im pretty sure they dont have bathrooms near meadows lake with running water?

the only reason i wanted to be able to ride out to fordyce was because i know its difficult, i enjoy scenic forest roads but i prefer difficult/technical riding. thank you for the information/advice.

does this campground at the backside of jackson meadows have a name or something to identify it? designated camping spots or a camp where you can find a spot type setup? thank you very much for your help , ive spent hrs on google map but theres no markers or anything to identify where any of the campgrounds are. the friends definitely wont be riding fordyce i know the second half of the trail is the most difficult thats why i want to go check out it . if all goes well i will be out there friday

Get a Tahoe national map. Camp grounds at that end of the lake are Findley and silvertip. Looking at the map Silvertip looks like its the one on the lake. Was up there last year and this camp ground was pretty full.
