I've got a buddy up there right now and he's on 36" tires and he had water in his.
I'm going next weekend on 35" tires and expect I'll take on a little myself.

Im uploading a bunch to photobucket. Ill post them in a little.
I have an 02 tacoma on 37s that sits pretty low to the ground and at comittee crossing i had a tiny bit of water go in my cab (had the doors off) but it wasnt enought to really matter.

what size rig? are you planning on coming out at comitee?
stay to the left at the first crossing and if you know what oyur doing 31's on a stock or 2" lifted flat fender can make it. i know ive done it at 200-250 cfm over the first weekend of july or last couple of june several years going i preffer my cj 7 though. I ran 33's on my cj7 with a 3" lift and no BL last year mid june and if i remember right the releases were in the 200 range. but someone will need to correct me if im wrong anyways we came out comittee with no front wheel drive, it was top of my fenders, nothing too major, little ductape and avoiding the holes and we were through. that stream can swallow you at 50 cfm if you pick the worng path and ive seen it were guys in 39.5's were getting winched out at 100 cfm or less and little flatfender made its way across at 200 cfm +. watch your line if you dont know what you are doing run that creek at 100 cfm or less. i wouldnt hesitate to take my cj7 4" up 35's through tat creek at 200-250 cfm at 300-400 i start looking at comitee very carefully. everything else is doable but thats jsut me. i like my small tires but they hold me back sometimes

37 swampers 7 inches of lift roughly. Water just barely touched my sliders. Went through yesterday.

220 CFM; 31" tires on a spring over Samy did just fine. With doors.
The advice in post #7 above seems very reasonable. Only caveat; for Spring flows you have to take into account the added flow from all the natural creeks adding to the official dam release. So in the spring take those projected flows you find on Dreamflows and KNOW the level will be higher at the first creek crossing. This time of year no concern. Spring is my preferred time of year to run the trail and see all the waterfalls from the canyon walls. |
