Eagle Lakes Road Solution
I have a idea to start the process for a solution to the ELR issue. We have a lot of information on these Shinnyboo threads but it's spread out and includes a lot of personal opinion about behavior.
I propose to have this thread as a sounding board to present only facts about ELR and the legal usage of it. We would also present facts about Mike's property, the easements through it and his business. Once we agree on a fact it would be posted on a separate thread that will be locked from the start. That way only agreed upon facts will be there and the purpose for that thread would remain informational only. A good start would be the map that shows Mike's property and the roads through it. Facts about what is leagl access could be included. Facts about what is legal to do on ELR would also be included. I would like to hear from those that have already presented this material like Bebe and Mike. When the information thread is complete, as agreed upon in this thread, it can be used a basis for coming up with a solution that works for everyone. We all know how Mike feels. Respecfully Mike, we don't need to hear about why you plow the road or the state of your equipment. No information about raising rabbits or concealed weapons permits. On the flip side this will not be the place for the "dropping" comments or talking about Mike's behavior on ELR. I don't want to see comments about sledders, "flatlanders," terrorism or similar stuff. We need to establish property lines, access rights, enforcement responsibiity, and laws that pertain to the usage of ELR. Offers of help and ideas about signage can also be listed on the other thread. Information about snow park designation and staging ares would be great as well. Contact information that is already public knowledge can be collated and listed too. If anyone has any info about resources available from the county or state in the form of money or information please include it here. Hopefully, we can then hammer out a deal that will be fair for all so let's stick to the facts. If we can do that great. If no one wants to try or the this thread degenerates into the same sort of non factual posts as the other one I'll just delete (yes, I used the D word) both threads and let this thing happen somewhere else other than on the PB.

Push the area's top officials to implement the actual staging area as a snow park for parking only. Just like the North side of the Donner exit, there is a cleared area for snowmobiles to park tow rigs while they go ride. They keep it plowed, paved and maintained. I don't mind buying a pass every year if the $ goes to the actual park, construction and maintenance. Anyone have any ideas on who to contact? It could create additional revenue over time by ticketing people whom dont have a pass to park. I wouldn't mind paying a reasonable fee of 20-30 bucks for a pass if it meant expanding our opportunity for recreation and relieving most issues with Shinneyboo.
Theres my idea. anyone else want to chime in???

I like the idea of a staging area. While I don't like schemes that make us pay for stuff that we already have for free I too wouldn't mind getting something in return for a small fee. I more visible staging are might cut down on the theft that goes on at the Indian Springs staging area too.

The map that Bebe posted serves well to see details. Mike owens the white square in section 14. Mike can clarify, but I assume your on his land once you pass under the big shinnyboo sign that hangs over the road.
Also an over view of the area from the National forest maps website.

Thanks. I like the larger map too. Serves to illustrate how Mike's property relates to the surrounding area and the trail. After we see some input on these (for consensus purposes) I'll start the info thread and include them.
