Firearms on Fordyce

I just wanted to see if anyone knew the status with the allowance of firearms on fordyce trail? I have been there in the past and have heard and seen people shoot guns but i just want to make sure i cover all the bases before i go and bring any weapons.

I did search the forum but couldnt seem to find anything

Any info would be great.

Thanks

you have to be off the road

i might have my ccw and i may have my 45 with me on the trail but i don't flash it and i don't shoot it anywhere around the trail the liability is too great. that said i go on a hike with a pack you can bet its strapped on somewhere.

be sensible no problem having one but shooting along side a heavily traveled trail in a granite canyon doesnt seem like the most sensible of things to do.

Its national forest, so standard NF rules (and common sense) apply. Be careful and considerate.

Don't shoot within 150 yards of any "established" area. This means any building, any developed area, even so much as a campsite or park bench. No shooting over water.

Don't shoot within 150 feet of any road.

Unless you're one of the lucky ones with a CCW, keep it unloaded and in plain view or locked in a case while you travel with it.

Know your target and what is BEHIND it.

EDIT: Clean up after yourself. Lay down a tarp before shooting "fun" targets for easy cleanup. Pick up your casings.
